You just have to make sure you have a card with you to pay upfront for the recovery, they settle with you within a couple of weeks. The only reason we're not still with them is because we now have a motohome (which they will cover up to 3.5 tons) and we wanted European cover (which is not included).

This is not the case anymore. They pay the recovery directly, no need for you to get your wallet out.

Perfect, just what I was looking for.
These guys (AutoAid) seem to be pretty well thought of on MSE.

Does anyone know what happens if you break down late at night - if you choose to be towed home, because no garages are open, will they come back again in the morning and tow the car to a garage?

I don't think any of breakdown company will do that.I was in a similar situation with RAC & in the end dropped the car at a nearby garage & I myself came back for it in the morning

Probably a stupid question (you can probably tell I've never broken down before!), but did the RAC drop you back home after dropping the car at the garage? And is this pretty standard for most breakdown companies?

Also debating whether to go with AutoAid or RightStart, who seem to offer similar cover at roughly the same price (there's a 15% off code on here...)
No they won't drop you at home, you have to arrange it yourself.I have been with autoaid for more than a year & have used them only once, where they were very helpful
Autoaid are absolutely amazing. They bent over backwards to get us home from Scotland to London over Christmas and got the car back after garages locally could not look at it for a while.

Plus because they use local companies, their call out times are very fast.
Heat. Great cover for price for 2 people. Just paid £43.31 for 15 months (expired deal) equivalent to £34.65 for 12 months
I paid £43 for this a couple of months ago based on fantastic feedback from a work colleague who used them in the past and he was very positive about the service received!
Most useless company ever. Customer service is terrible if you have any problems. (Not car related) That's all i'm saying.

I attempted to order a policy last week but the website kept crashing, I phoned up the next morning to be told I can't take a policy out to start on a specific date because the time had past, person I spoke to was rude, unhelpful. Didn't even care/know the website was having problems. Said I would just go with someone else instead and got told "okay" LOL. terrible.
Great service. Used a number of times (accident and locked out of car).
Simply can't fault them.

To be fair it sounds like they have a point, you cannot have a policy start date that's in the past. Most policies have a first 24hr surcharge
Great company, been using them for a few years now and never let me or my wife down. Covers you and your partner in ANY car in UK and Europe.
You can't just make a new account on Groupon to get the discount. I think you have to have a different card number for payment otherwise Groupon recognises you have used the card previously and rejects the discount.

Could not agree more with this. I have only started cover 1 month ago but it has taken me that time to have my partner added. We have no bills in duel name so I provided a copy of our house ownership deed AND a letter from the solicitor confirming our purchase. They wouldn’t accept that as proof, they consider a joint telephone bill as acceptable but not a legal document. I was met with cockiness and hostility. I hope they’re not the same if I need them to help us out one night..

I had no problem starting cover the next day with RAC (Something I couldn't do with autoaid because of their crap website crashing) I can accept the fact that they couldn't do anything, but the fact they didn't even know about the website problems and couldn't really care about it was what annoyed me.

Great service from them when my car wouldn't start one Sunday morning only 2 days after starting contact .
Peace of mind for £33.

l had no trouble adding my partner. Just emailed them a scan of the marriage certificate.
And the policy covers us in any vehicle. They got to me in just over an hour when my motorbike died in the wilds of Northumberland, and sent a proper bike technician who couldn't fix it (electrics problem) and took me and the Suzuki home in a specialised bike transport. Very happy with the service
I’ve used them for many years, never had a problem myself. Amazingly cheap relative to your typical brands.
I was with them for years before I got free cover through my company. They were unbeatable! My ex broke down in Dover, very late at night and with 3 small kids. they put them up in a hotel and then arranged a hire car for her, 1 way hire, which they paid for, The broken down car was delivered to our local garage in Cornwall!
I'd go back to them in a flash!

I broke down just leaving the Lake District on my way home to Leeds. The AA took me and my car back to Leeds dropped the car outside my local garage as it was late and then drove me home, so I guess it depends who you get.
Been with Autoaid for over 10 years wouldn’t go with anyone else have ALWAYS had amazing service from them.
There were fantastic when we had an electrical issue. They picked the car up and took it to the garage of our choice. However he was unable to deal with that particular issue, so we called them and they sent someone out to move the car to anoter garage that could fit it. And we never got charged.
Can you use this even if you drive an hired car

Europe? All I see is nationwide, I wish it was Europe as well ...
Does it include European cover?
Great, thanks! I was just about to get AutoAid for my daughter, so you have saved me £10
A QUESTION: I have ordered it through Groupon as a Gift for my daughter. All I got was them saying "Thanks, an email has been sent to her." Does that mean she gets an email allowing her to contact AutoAid direct - or what? Any advice will be appreciated, please.

Hi

Does the additional discount work as it wouldn't for me.

Thanks
another thing is that common law couples can share one cover however they will need to provide proof that they both live at the same address. It used to be that it was only applicable to married couples and civil partnerships. So that's an extra saving in itself.
