It is great for people who use it. Unless you have 4 large freezers or a very large warehouse behind your family house of 10 members, I found Costco memberships are not value for money. It is good for a a nice stroll in the big shop for stress relief, if you like it. It is good for tyres(depends on how often you change the tyres) and TVs(the new online/highstreet competition is an answer for that as well. I know a lot of devoted Costco followers might be annoyed about this comment.

This has been posted before. Little tip, sign up the Wowcher as a new customer and use code WELCOME20 to get 20% off and make this only £26

I went and availed of this deal today. The membership is ‘individual’ membership, so the £34 membership. Deal works out beneficial due to the following;

- £14 voucher to use in store
- Free pack of AAA batteries priced at £10
- Free chocolate fudge cake priced at £10
- Free cooked chicken priced at £5
- Also as new member, received ‘£20 off’ voucher to be used online

So taking that into consideration, you basically get free membership for the year

Now THIS is a Hot UK Deal. Not some 99p tat from GearBest..

The extra £18.60 you are paying is just buying these extra things.https://www.costco.co.uk/how_it_works

Thats for online membership

"
  • Includes a complimentary spouse/domestic partner card at £28 + VAT annually"
For standard memebership

I assume by the prices this is for Executive membership

"Executive Membership
  • Includes a complimentary spouse/domestic partner card
Trade Executive at £56 + VAT annually
Individual Executive at £62 + VAT annually"

Heat. We like Costco, it’s different. Some good deals. I’ve checked this out & it is a good deal guys, especially for all you Costco knockers who don’t have cards. The price of the freebies are nearly the cost of this membership deal so it really is worth having a punt if only for 1 year. If you don’t like then don’t renew & its only cost you a couple of pounds (+ what you buy!). P.S. you have to know your prices i.e. 24 x Bud @ Costco £20 - Supermarkets £10 ouch! Costco electricals carry a Five year free no quibble return warranty. So do Richer sounds & John Lewis I know, but better than buying Curry’s etc. £ ???

hmmm - picture of chocolate cake - tempted!

A ‘mobile’ deal ? Think this is stretching it a bit too far, like too far and the elastic broke.

Who the hell pays £73.57 fee for Costco

Didn't renew my membership as the prices have gone up on most stuff quite a lot, purely down to the £/$ exchange rate so not many bargains to be had. This might tempt me back though.

Trying to join but cannot see code box to get 20% off

A trade membership for proper self employed people is cheaper at £26.40 and you can get into the store weekdays an hour or more before individual members plus they usually have a large table giving you free tea coffee and cakes in that first hour.
Costco is great for the cheap petrol/Diesel if your local branch has a filling station and also electrical items were the warranty is excellent and the Cafe is really good value but always busy.
If you're self employed a Makro or Booker card has free membership and I find myself using these wholesalers more because they have hardly any customers unlike Costco were you can wait ages to get through the checkouts.

Does the membership start on purchase? Mine runs out in February so I'm wondering if it can be delayed

Any loopholes that would allow the avarage joe to signup and obtain one of these membership cards?

Some more info:

If this is executive membership you get cashback on things you buy (good if you are getting an expensive TV)

All TV’s come with a 5 year warranty (money back so you can walk away with the cash) and 90 days to change your mind about purchases

2 year warranty on computers and Apple phones and tablets

If you pay by card it will have to be Amex or debit card

Anyone know if this is. New members only? My membership runs out soon.

no location near me

Straight up question for Costco shoppers, what sort of things do you find yourself buying in Costco and make it worth having a membership?

I've always assumed if you had space to store 200 toilet rolls and three chest freezers (basically if you have space for bulk purchases) it would be worthwhile. I don't have space for bulk so could I make the most of a membership?

Fuel is usually quite a bit cheaper too

Its no longer 5 years warranty on most items.

I was a member when living in US where it was FREE! Joined for a year here but, frankly, not worth it for the average household and, as someone said, some things are more expensive than the high street. Food, notably meat, is high quality but expensive and comes is very large portions.

your right can anyone confirm what type of membership this is for

It's not clear what membership this deal is for. If it is for executive individual which costs £74.40 then it's a deal compared to regular individual membership that costs £33.60 as you get 2% of your spend back plus £14 off your first spend and the freebies.

If however it is for individual membership then essentially you are getting membership for the same price as walking in off the street but getting a £14 discount on your first shop plus 3 freebies.
Can anyone clarify which membership it is for?

I got this deal a couple of months back and it was for new members only.

Costco’s satisfaction guarantee is excellent we bought a firm bed from them it was cheap but awful for us, got great reviews everywhere but not from usand we tried a thick topper and after 10 months we were ready to give up on it, spoke to someone who worked there and they told us to give them a call. Two mins on the phone and it was no problem we will pick it up and refund the money. Cannot say fairer than that great service.

Costco isn’t for looking for things that are cheap, it’s quality more than cheapness and don’t take the highest comment on here, you don’t need a warehouse or 4 freezers.

So if you're an old member who's membership has expired, would one be considered to be a new customer?

I'm pleased you got a refund, so I'd agree that CS is decent, but the fact that you even had to go down that route rather suggests that the quality of the products they sell is not necessarily that great

Nothing wrong with the product it was a firm bed but like sleeping on the floor to us, others seem to like it but not for us if you like it then great.but after nearly a year who else would give a refund no bed shop would even give one if you bought one and then didn’t like it a week later except those that give a free trial.

All costco's should be getting their own petrol stations and can be a good few p per litre cheaper, which can save the fees.

With all warehouses you need to know the price of things some are good bargains, some aren't.

thanks, just signed

can anyone get in there and buy me a shedload of dark choc Bountys, please? many thanks

Walking around Costco anywhere near Christmas and the New Year and you'll most like find yourself feeling like a peasant who doesn't have two pennies to rub together.

Your trolley might have a a pair of Levis jeans, screw driver set, a rotisserie chicken, Kirkland branded bottles water and a box of Wotsits but if you'll be surrounded by people buying speedboats and enough bottles of champagne for Buckingham Palace.

My dad hates it in there.

It always amuses me when so many people think you can just wander in to costco off the high street and become a member.

Not sure how you reached that conclusion because he returned a bed after 10 months! He said the bed had good reviews!!!
