12 Months Free AA Breakdown Cover - Just Tell Them You Wish To Leave!

I have just called the AA to stop them automatically renewing my existing membership. This membership was a freebie itself, as it was included with my last car insurance policy.

When asked why I wished to cancel, I replied that I wasn't doing much mileage these days and therefore couldn't justify it (not strictly true, I was planning to cancel and then take out a cheaper policy with another company).

Anyway, the chap went away for a minute, without even being asked by me if there was any deal he could do, and then offered me 12 months free coverage - the only catch being that I was limited to no more than one call out.

It includes recovery as well - not just roadside assistance.

Obviously, they will be hoping that after the free 12 months of this "one call out" policy has expired you will let them auto renew at the normal rate - but there is nothing to stop you cancelling just before the 12 months is up.

I can't wait to see what they will offer me for free next year when I tell them I am leaving!

I am sick and tired of having to call them every year to get the price down. This year i will leave and go somewhere else for breakdown cover.I dont want it free for a year from AA.

RAC is much cheaper

Ive had problems with the rac not recovering modified cars
Im not alone on this one hence i opted for the aa
Only thing is the aa is expensive and they wont do deals to re-new
Had the aa ring me numerous times after cancelling this year
One cheeky git said "what you going to do if you break down"
My reply was i wont break down

Quoted £140 for renewal, called them and said could get same after cashback with RAC for £89,so they quoted me £166

Thought I'd called the nuthouse in error

I had a good deal when I said I would cancel almost half my renewal price . If your not happy with renewal price ask if they can do it any cheaper. It costs nothing to ask

I get it free with my insurance

Had this for the last year free and never needed to use it, the renewal just came in and please note they auto charge it at normal price after the free year if you do not cancel. Cancelled no problem with no hard sell.

I am away to find a new deal before my weekend trip away in case of the dreaded breakdown

I had to cancel mine as they put price up without telling me, resulting me in getting bank charges as i thought i had the right the amount in to cover payment, they then said it was my fault and they would offer me a cheaper quote. Get all you can out of them and then leave!

Surprised to get so many negative comments.

Yes, the AA are expensive - there are much cheaper deals to be had from other companies if you are a new customer, looking to take out cover for the first time.

But this freebie offer is NOT for those people - it's for people who are existing AA members coming up for renewal.

Another 12 months cover for free - what's not to like?
