Anyone who is thinking about getting a Sonos system needs to be warned!

They are addictive. You will not be able to stop yourself from buying more.

I'm off to Richer Sounds tomorrow to pick up another Play 1

    Or if you are happy with the standard 2 year warranty and want to save a few quid, see this earlier post;

I have a Play:3 & 2 Play:1. The Play:3 is more than enough to fill a big kitchen/dining room. The play ones are good for smaller rooms. I had them setup as stereo pairs but the Play:3 stuck in a corner is fine. If you factor a deezer account is £10 a month then this makes speaker £50!

I had this concern. No. In fact I think it's better than airplay.
    1) you can carry on using your phone without the risk of something autoloading and hijacking what's being played
    2) you can control the Sonos from multiple devices: e.g. you can start something playing using your phone, then leave your phone on one side of the room and pick up a laptop to skip the track (because the laptop's nearer). Your phone battery runs out, the music carries on and you use your ipad to control it instead.
3)The multi-room is just amazing to use synced music between two rooms is just incredible.
    4) The wireless is unflappable, my only airplay experiences were distinctly juddery - remember your phone *and* your speaker both have to have decent wireless strength for airplay.

My Play 5 died within 3 weeks (wifi module failed). Completely unabused and after speaking with the excellent Sonos support they agreed so replaced. Unusual, sure but anything electrical can fail, at any time.

Hard to explain just how good these speakers are, sound and build quality for the price is second to none and as others have mentioned the integration between Android / iOS is simply awesome! Play 3 in a large lounge. Play 1 in the dining room

Why is there no official Sonos App for Windows 8 mobile phones though? It's putting me off buying one

Can you plug a cd player into this or these only for streamed sources?

No, you can only do that with the Play 5.

No but you can copy the cd onto your pc (or NAS drive should you have one) and play from there.

All my cd collection is now on a NAS drive in FLAC (uncompressed format) and I can access and control everything via the Sonos app on my tablet (and android phone). So basically, once you start playing your music you don't have to get up off the sofa to change cd's. I've got a hifi separates system and sold my cd player a couple of years ago because I never used it.

I suggest you go and get a demo somewhere just to appreciate how it all pulls together.

Here's a section from the Sonos website

    Computer or NAS
Sonos can access any music files that are stored on a computer or network-attached-storage (NAS) drive. If you have a music library managed through iTunes, WinAmp, Windows Media Player, Rhapsody or Music Match, Sonos can import your existing playlists. We support nearly every format, including: MP3, iTunes Plus, WMA, AAC (MPEG4), AAC+, Ogg Vorbis, Audible (format 4), Apple Lossless, Flac (lossless) music files, as well as uncompressed WAV and AIFF files.

    Hope this helps.

Look on here for the student discount post. Anyone can use them for home delivery. No need for student bumf.

Use the % for audio. Worked for me last night.

I think this is through sonos. so anywhere you buy them you get the deeper deal. still good though

Yes it is a Sonos deal rather than a Richer Sounds one so the challenge now is to find the cheapest place before Christmas?
  13. hayd100's avatar
Can see anywhere that you get the 5 year guarantee elsewhere though. If you do better to buy from other company with the 10% off.

I have seen a play1 with the speakers inside blown, I don't know if it would have been covered under warranty though

I've got the play:3 and they are amazing, I listen to mainly rock and was concerned that it wouldn't be punchy enough, I was very impressed, I wasn't expecting how it would sound. also this room filling sound, it really is amazing, soon as you step into the room it just surrounds you! Looking to get the little one for the bedroom!!

2 speakers would make it a sterio pair, a singular play:1 is mono

I have deezer+ on Orange but I'm in UK. Am I eligible?

Good deal, but I've found that deezer doesn't sound as good as Google play (maybe because I'm just using the free trial?). I'd save money and use a chromecast with a mini amp & adapter, but voted hot

The sound quality of the P5 is fantastic as are the P1's, both blow my old separates out of the water. But it's the extras that make them stand out. You simply cannot beat the ability to have the music playing in whatever combinations all around the house. Beware however it is highly unlikely if you buy any of them you will stop at one zone you will want more very quickly.

Play 1 is nice, well made, mono sound, good quality output for the price and size. 2 play 1s can be paired for stereo. I was so impressed with my Play 1, I bought the Amp version to power proper speakers. The beauty of the system is the robust wireless and the way it operates.
