Not a deal for everyone but if you are like me and do not have the money to splash the cash on repairing your boiler and like the peace of mind you are covered then this is what you need.
It is a MASSIVE package! it covers everything in your home and at the minute it is only £10 a month including a boiler service and heath check. Also if you go through TopCashBack there is a £65 return making it just £55 for the year!

MAKE SURE TO CANCEL AFTER 12 MONTHS

Cover for your boiler, gas central heating, plumbing, electrics, pest problems and security and roofing incidents.
HomeServe Cover 8 is the most comprehensive cover we offer. It protects your home against a wide range of problems - from gas boiler breakdowns, burst pipes, blocked drains and faulty electrics. We've even added some extra features, including a boiler health check for new Customers to make sure your boiler is safe and can be covered.

With cover, you’ll have extra peace of mind that during the colder months, you’ll keep your hot water running and central heating warm. If your boiler breaks down, we’ll sort it out – no fuss and no costly repair bills.

There is no limit to the amount of times you can claim, and each claim has a generous £4,000 limit with the exception of boiler and central heating claims where there is no limit as long as the boiler is not beyond economical repair (BER).

The best bit is that if after 6 months your boiler breaks down and is BER, we’ll provide you with a replacement and if it’s less than 7 years old we will install it for free. For boilers over 7 years old, an installation through HomeServe would be required and a cost would be associated with this. Please refer to T&C’s for further information.

A FREE boiler service* in year 1 for new customers. This will usually take place within the first 90 days of taking out the policy. From then on, boiler services are generally completed between April and September.

What's covered?

Natural gas central heating breakdowns
Plumbing and drainage inside your home
External drainage on your property
Dripping taps and toilet/tank overflows
Water supply pipe leaks or bursts
Electrical wiring
Rats and mice infestation inside the home and wasps/hornets within the home or garden
Protecting your home following damage to your roof
Replacing lost keys and repairing broken locks for doors which secure your home
A noisy boiler that’s still working
The gas supply pipe from your gas meter up to any appliance
Repair / replace unvented cylinders
Repair / replace immersion heaters
Permanent wiring within sheds, outbuildings and detached garages
Permanent wiring to appliances, such as doorbells, burglar alarms and smoke detectors
Broken external doors, even if there's another lockable external door

Sounds good, but what are the excesses?

They have an appalling reputation for not actually performing when you need to use their services, plus finding ways to make additional charges. But, £55 is very cheap, so if you have you wits about you is probably ok.

£50 per claim

I just love the phrase "peace of mind". What great marketing speak as if I worry about paying extra money out in insurance a good household policy covers!!

Where does it state £50 per claim?

caution I used home server once and will never again! they weren't 'emergency cover' when I had them so take 3-4 days to do a repair, not great when it's winter as you could have no heating and or water for 3-4 days. BG or SSE may be dearer however you get same or next day repair.

These are the stories i have heard and read about, they are very consistent, so i think it is part of their business model.

Sorry should have mentioned it's £50, can someone add that

Homeserve fined £30.9m in 2014 for mis-selling products, unsure if they've learnt their lesson. Anyone any experience of their service?

Just had my boiler serviced and repaired, the guy was so helpful and friendly I personally wouldn't suggest anyone else. In the past I have found BG to be awful, they missed 2 appointments but did send me £15 for the inconvenience. That covered the day off I booked

Wish I could find something similar for oil fired boilers....

My boiler is 15 months old and due a service.
This seems excellent value.

I also currently am with Homeserve and have largely been left disappointed with them. I got a service recently and it was canceled and re-arranged various times. before completion. It worries me if I ever have to use them for a emergency repair.

I have Homeserve for plumbing cover at the promotional rate of 75p per month. I booked a call as I had problems with my cistern. First appointment was failure as Plumber didn't appear. Second appointment was a success and Plumber did the fix well. I'm happy paying 75p but wouldn't pay full price. I just wait until the next promotion comes up.

I have Aviva emergency cover which is provided by homecare albeit with no service or excess.

Ive only had positive experience.

Used it 3 times.
Once for a gas leak, saved me a fortune.
Also for boiler breakdown then a blocked drain which needed jetting.

Local engineers arrived within 2 hours each time and fuĺly resolved on that visit.

Surely homecare is better with no cal out charges

you will notice no cover for boiler filter i had a leaking one and they would not repair/maintain unless they had fitted it
most systems have a hard water filter nowadays so it would appear as repeated by many other people
this is a terrible company that will do its utmost to wriggle out of their contract obligations

I've got Homeserve plumbing cover and must say the service has always been excellent.

Whos the best to do a boiler service mine is due soon? My boiler is about 7 year old. I'm covered with my house insurance but I gotta get it serviced annually which they dont provide.

I dunno how they justify the £30 a month normal charge thats more than my house insurance with all that cover included ><. If it was £10 a month forever which it should be I'd go for it since we all know if you put £30 a month away in a jar you'd be quids in..

Hi, who is your house insurance with? thanks

and of course TCB have a great reputation for always paying out. not.

Be careful . The cashback applies to Homeserve cover 8 and not Homeserve cover 8 with free boiler service. They are listed as two separate products on the website. If you take the second option you may well not get any cashback.
Nevertheless, even without the free service, it seems a good offer and Homeserves' ratings on review sites are similar to British Gas.

I'm with axa.

Was thinking about this but the reviews on quidco aren't very good, in few cases the cashback hasn't been paid. I am not sure about TCB. That puts me off a little bit. Excellent deal if cashback tracks though.

Both options were showing with £65 cashback today. I went for the boiler service option as my Worcester boiler definitely needs a service and the cashback tracked straight away. It's showing as payable in 30 weeks, so we'll have to see how it goes.

Thanks OP, my homneserve renewal came today and has gone up £5 a month despite no claims, so have gone for this and cancelled homecare.

I had the homeserver £6 plumbing cover last year and found them no better or worse then BG.

New to topcash back though, so hope I've done eveeything right there, I'll check tomorrow to see if it's tracked.

Shocking service
