is it me or it is silly paying for music 100pounds/year?

It might be you, who knows?

If you like music and don't want to steal it or listen to lower quality rips from youtube and suchlike then Spotify offers a huge playlist and is arguably good value.... if you value what is on offer.

The same argument exists for pay TV, monthly porn subscriptions (if anyone actually does pay for that), online gaming, the list goes on and on.

Only you can decide if it's silly to pay £99 for unlimited playback of millions and millions of songs in fairly high quality in your home, car or shed.

Hot but not as good as student discount

PHEW...Thought it read 99p for a year...Never mind must get my eyes tested again.

Spotify is definitely the best streaming app.

Good offer but anyone know of a family deal ?

Over 3x the price of a shared family deal.

Yeah I had student but moved to family so everyone can use it in the house. Shame they don't do a deal like this for family

Spotify is definitely the best streaming app.

Student was good before they went down the unidays route.
What about all us 'NUS' students!?

A deal on family plan would be great.

Can I ask why you think that is? I took out the Amazon music 3 month deal for a quid and was going to continue to subscribe. I've not tried any of the other streaming services so just wondering what the pro's and cons are too the various one's. The good thing I noticed for me about Amazon music is that as a prime user I can get it for £79.99. Is Spotify worth the extra £20 do you think? Cheers

Can you not sign up to this and share it with 3 others?

Signed up for the 99p for 3 months a while back and just extended that with this offer. Thanks

Yes, if you want to give them your log in details...

Must be selected customers then. Says I can’t

I still got the original account from way back when it was free.
Can I still use it and is there any disadvantage ?

What's the simultaneous access limit on a standard account? I have a share in a family account. Own username and password, own playlists etc but it only allows me to access on one device at a time.

If you have Vodafone and due for a sim refresh on your existing deal, I got Spotify premium for free on my tariff.

When did they go down the unidays route? I only have NUS Graduate but I still have student Spotify. Had considered cancelling and making use of the 3 month for 99p offers. If that's now the case I will be making sure not to cancel my student subscription!

I've used Spotify, then Google Play Music and now Amazon Music. I honestly felt they were all very similar in the range of music available. Spotify probably seemed the slickest but for me best just going with the cheapest. For me that's Amazon as a Prime member.

Hmm, I'm an Amazon Music Unlimited user at the moment due to a free trial but used to be long term Spotify Premium subscriber. Have also used lengthy free trials from Google Play Music in the past two years after seeing offers on here.

However I do really miss Spotify. Amazon Music Unlimited may have slightly more tracks in my opinion, and that I could get it for £4.99 a month with my NUS card, but all my beloved playlists are on Spotify, not any other service, and I just prefer the layout of the Spotify app.

Really tempted to go back

You can only play one stream at once. You may find yourself 'fighting' for what's being played with your other users if on at the same time.

I'm an existing subscriber and got the email, so it does work but perhaps selected account. To be fair I've been subscribed non stop for several years, I love it.

Does anyone know what happens if you still have 20-30 days on your subscription, is this added on to the year? Wouldn't wanna do this and miss out on a month as my monthly payment has just gone out.

I think paying £100/year for unlimited music is pretty good value myself. But then again I don’t like stealing from honest, hard working musicians so what do I know?

And before anyone pipes up with Spotify paying out tiny percentages - anything I listen to that I really love will be paid for in full and added to my collection.

With the price of the dollar at the moment it's about £24 cheaper to pay for the US version that has the same offer at $99 if you have a card that has a 0% foreign transaction fee.

Considering the offer posted is only open to new users, this is a viable option. You can stream music anywhere in the world on premium so it doesn't matter what country you subscribe in.

Edit: nevermind it's not just for existing customers, comment above was misleading. However I believe you can change your country setting in spotify, so just do that, pay in USD and enjoy your savings.

I just use Spotify++ and can stream straight from the app. It acts like the free version, just no adverts. I used to sub to Spotify but it's just ridiculously expensive

Yep, and I’m saying this is good value for all the non-thieves out there. What’s the problem?

I used Spotify for years. Recently moved to Apple Music and I found the sound quality on Apple Music is far more superior.

They call it 'Deal Seeker's Vision', nasty affliction. Sends the heart rare soaring with excitement, only to be met by sheer disappointment.

Ow wow. Can't believe someone would pay so much money for Spotify. I've got couple of friends abroad and we have family plan together, so a year of subscription costs about £12.

Everyone is allowed to share their own opinion on here, whether you agree or not, that's the beauty of free speech.

does the price revert back to 9.99 after a year has passed.? Spotify `s prices are going up and you will pay more for a month to month contract. . tIs a marketing con.

Doesn't your card need to be registered in the country the Spotify account is registered to?

Dunno, when I was younger I used to buy a new cd nearly every week which was over a tenner a time, work the price difference out from that and tell me if it last worth it.

+1 for Family subscription
