Already paying £1 a month here, enjoy their articles, rather than nonsense some 'papers' write, but my eldest wanted to sub up also. Had a search around and spotted this link and it still works

Thought it was a massive kick in the teeth when they brought in adverts to the articles, I'm already paying a subscription fee, why on earth am I paying to see adverts?

Just as a heads up, if you click through this link, it still gives the £1 deal, even though it is showing as £2 a month in the app, or in some cases £19 for the year (just over £1.50 a month)

I recently unsubscribed, but tried this again, even though I was getting the other offers showing instead and it worked.

They have some brilliant journalists. I think Adam Crafton is one who deals with football.

Bargain. Some of the best club specific football journalists around and the comments sections are actually quite good. Not too many places except twitter where you can discuss an article with the writer themselves.

I will just say though that it isn't for everyone, have heard a fair few moans about the longform style being too much but I enjoy it myself (edited)

I got this same offer last year. Well worth it for genuinely some brilliant journalism.

Edit: Just to add I took out the offer in December 21 and I'm still only being charged £1 a month

Really don't get the love for The Athletic - I subbed for free for three months but cancelled after a week, I enjoy good sports journalism but I didn't find anything I enjoyed reading (my focus is mainly US sports)

Got the athletic myself, find I hardly read it anymore. I wouldn't renew even at this price. There are some decent articles but some are rather clickbaity and waffle on for ages. Obviously some people above disagree but just offering a different opinion.

My previous subscription had just expired and while they offered a renewal at a discounted price I figured that once I had cancelled the renewal the same £1 per month deal would resurface. As others have said, some great journalism and at £1 per month fantastic value.(y)

Don't do it! Once you subscribe and unsubscribe they don't stop spamming, Facebook adverts, etc. shame because they have good articles. (edited)

Used to subscribe, after initial flurry of interesting articles it became a version of the local papers, which the majority of the journalists were stolen from. No real insight as someone else said click bait articles etc.

They offer this price all the time after you have unsubscribed, still too expensive.
