Source? First I’ve heard of this

There seems to be a lot of misinformation in the thread To clarify (or at least as far as I understand it), purchasing from another region is in no way classed by Microsoft as marketplace theft/fraud. Major Nelson has clearly stated in the past that although it's a grey area, you will not be banned for (and I use as an example) purchasing a GWG title offered to Gold members intended in a different region.

The Microsoft T&Cs state that falsifying your location via your actual Xbox console (again, as an example) would be classed as violating their terms, which include using account migration to 'trick' your Xbox into thinking that it's sat in the US. This doesn't seem to fall into that category as there is no VPN in use, so no country change, just an Argentine address in your Microsoft address book.

I've got currency attached to my account from the UK, US and Russian Marketplaces. Microsoft know this as we've discussed issues I've had on the Russian marketplace in the past. I was even once asked if I travel to Russia a lot

Yeah I wouldn't mind a source as with the last big sale I changed my account to Turkey and had issues with the money, ended up Xboxlive support for over an hour chatting about it. Both people I spoke with said they don't ban people for doing it, its just awkward. The one ended up buying the games I wanted for me
Amazing. Thanks. Guess it is rude not to, although I hardly turn the box on.

Yeah I've had a refund from a game purchased from a different region, no questions asked. So I'm pretty sure that's not true.

EDIT
Think this only works for people without a sub on their account. I get this error:
"You currently have a subscription from a different region. If it still does not work, contact customer support."

To be fair it is in the T’s & C’s so if you have lots of digital purchases you have to question how would you feel if you lost them?.
How do you go about getting this then?

Got the same error here.

Cold from me as this deal does not work.
Probably the Xbox live ambassadors trying to scare people like they do in in every thread like this once again not one case of anyone getting banned

its why i only did it the once, was too much hassle to do it and most games I get these days from GWG as certain games you can predict will be free eventually and i don't mind waiting
Do this at your own risk, if they ban your account, you will lose all your digital games!

I love comments like this!

Been buying games and ea access subs from different regions for about 2 and half years and never once had a problem.

If it wasn’t for the fact I had gold til next July already I’d snap this up

All those saying this doesn’t work then voting cold need to remember this only works if you’re sub has expired, it can’t be used to stack or extend

Technically you commiting fraud i.e gaining goods by deception as you’re using fake information to complete the payment.

The risk is lost digital purchases, I must have spent £1000’s over the years. I wouldn’t want to loose access to that so I don’t risk it.

How would they go about proving you don’t have multiple places of residence in multiple countries though?

I wouldn’t think they’d need to prove anything as it’s there service, who would they be proving it too?.
So they could take away anybodies stuff without proving or giving a reason

If they suspect you have broken the terms and conditions they can ban you, thats what you agreed to if you actually read the agreement.Whether they would is debatable but there is a risk however small.
Comes up in Spanish for me , the only Spanish I know is two more beers please

They would need to prove that you do not/have not lived/moved to that country though. You could go on holiday there and make a purchase with a gift card etc etc

i don't think so, as it still needs a Argie address registered with the card. which you don't have. (and revolut doesn't have argie currency)
