Are refurbished systems any good?

I’ve always bought Dell XPS refurbished and never one had a problem. 10 years later and 3 machines later (upgrading). Always come in mint condition too!
They're refurbished systems are usually as new and even the scratch and dent ones are usually in very good condition. They're very good for returns as well.

I've had a couple of these and never had any issues, always come as new. Just ordered a "scratch and dent" inspiron using the code

Not really. Depends on luck. Also UK Dell customer service is terrible. I got a Dell inspiron 14 in 2015 refurbished and the screen was going off if the laptop was moved in any direction. U had to stay with the laptop in one place without moving it. You couldn't even adjust the screen. Someone came and replaced my motherboard along with cpu and gpu but the problem wasnt solved. The connection cable between the screen and motherboard was loose. I told them many times and they didn't listen. Anyways after a good amount of days they finally managed to get it fixed by simply replacing the cable. Then in 2017 I got a refurbished Alienware 17 2017. The problem with it was that I was getting random freezes and stuttering. Also 90C+ temperatures on Cpu and Gpu. It was really frustrating. Making the games unplayable. I thought it was the paste but I wasn't sure. Maybe there was a problem with the graphics card or the cpu. So, I told them. They sent me a box to put the laptop in and they sent it to Poland Dell Repair centre. After 1 week I got it back with the same problem. They only reinstalled the windows and that's it. I had the same 90C+ temperatures, freezing and stuttering. So, they did either a terrible paste job or no paste at all. They only reinstalled Windows. On repair bill it said 'freezes in OS operating system' . I didn't said that. I said high temperatures, freezes and stuttering in games. After 5-6 weeks of talking with the customer service, they sent someone at my home and replaced the motherboard. The motherboard wasn't new. It was refurbished. So, if you have a problem with your pc/laptop expect to get refurbished parts. Cheers!
I've bought maybe 15 systems for ourselves, family and friends. The first was in 2003/4.

The certified refurbs have been as good as brand new in a plain box.
The first I bought (as a student) was a scratch and dent, I was never sure, but I think it referred to an imperceptible blemish on the dell logo on the lid.

All have been functionally 100% perfect.
I've only ever bought one, but it was perfect in terms of condition
I've had 3 desktops and 4 laptops from the outlet over the last 10 years or so - mostly 'scratch & dent' but I can only remember one laptop that had an extremely minor blemish to the underside. Not a single issue with any of them either.

I've probably had half a dozen or so systems from the Outlet (some for me, some for family) and have yet to be disappointed. Even the scratch and dent are in good condition (and at a decent discount).

My advice would be to keep an eye and get a feel for prices. Some are posted at better prices than others and then the odd discount code can make for some really good bargains. I recently missed out on an Alienware Aurora R7 with dual 1080ti's for circa £2k delivered (there was a 15% code that took the edge off a bit!) - that was a cracking bargain!
Any new dell outlet codes. Want to order alienware R7 i7 8700. Thanks
