Here's another radical idea, replying with helpful advice as opposed to a snide comment. It takes a similar amount of effort and you might just find that helping someone is an enjoyable process. Yeah - possible? For your information I have read many reviews and have been watching these two models on ebay for a week but interestingly none mention how these are for kids or really comment on how much they have dated. Also if you reread my question I asked specifically about the T450 and X250.

Ignore the arrogant idiot... The T450 should meet all your requirements easily, the i5 has built in graphics so it should be ok with Minecraft on low settings. The SSD will make things load a lot faster too

Edit, this is Minecraft on the slightly less powerful version of the cpu

I've only bought a Surface Pro 4 and was very happy with it.

I bought 3 laptops, all arrived in great condition. Minor scratches and scrapes, but nothing affecting the system. The laptops were well packaged, always came with the charger. I can only recommend them.
can someone recommend me a laptop from here ?

I got a Dell + HP desktop pc base. Arrived within 3 days, both looked brand new inside and out no dust or marks. Can't say for laptops but i'd assume they'll have some minor use signs cause laptops are portable and likely been around where a tower stays in one place and hardly touched.

What is shipping cost to mainland UK?
Do they include UK power plug adaptor?

Not sure about all items, but the SFF PC comes up as £5 and £10 for non-UK Mainland/Highlands (didn't check as I assumed it was free, apologies).

My Surface Pro 4 had a UK plug - itzoo are based in the UK?

I am strongly considering this as a first machine for my son who would want it for school work, python and some minecraft/slime rancher. He would probably want to be able to watch videos as well. Would anyone know if the X250 T450 would be a good fit? I could probably stretch too around £250 if I had to but would prefer <£200. All opinions gratefully appreciated as I do not have the best track record with buying laptops.

not gaming, just a few apps on windows - connect to my 3d printer & software.

I can hardly call myself a laptop expert, but I see Thinkpads as practicality/productivity machines, as they're meant for business users, rather than gaming laptops.

Basic tasks will be fine - there's also have the legendary robustness Thinkpads provide. Though, of course, robustness = a bit more weight.

I'd definitely consider one for younger kids who are clumsy with gadgets, as these take more of a beating (though kids should be trying to learn how to take care of things! Thinking of my ten year-old niece's year-old non-business laptop which is a complete state!).

I have a much higher specced laptop now (compared to the Core2 Duo X200 I had) but weirdly, I kinda miss it!

I think it would be a great fit. The X250 in particular would be fairly compact and transportable, and very rugged. The keyboards are fantastic - the trackpads slightly less so but still perfectly usable. Very easy to upgrade - e.g. to put an SSD in.

I'm running X220s and X230s (so a few generations behind the X250) and with an SSD in, even they still feel really snappy.

The screens resolutions aren't great - just 768px in height, which isn't a huge amount of screen real estate, but it's really not that bad.

Something like an X250 would be pretty much my first option to give my daughter for school, if I was needing a 'proper laptop' at a fairly low price.

I got a laptop off itzoo. Good condition, but wasted hours trying to get the WiFi working. Eventually found out the laptop's hardware was not supported with windows 10 (which was installed on it). Muddled on with a dongle, but I have just bitten the bullet and bought windows 7, only to find I now have to find the drivers to even get the thing to connect to the internet with a cable.

The T450 would be a good fit. SSD is quite small but would be easy to remedy if it become full in the future by buying a bigger SSD or a cheap external storage drive. It has the Intel on board graphics so no high end gaming I'm afraid. ITzoo have a good reputation on this site so no need to worry about purchasing from them.
Good luck and ignore the nasty comment from earlier. The majority of people on this site are nice and helpful.

Yes they have Windows 10 Home 64-Bit, the drop-down option is to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Looks as though the X250 is Sold Out, as is the T450 - though itzoo often restock (assume during the working week).

The W541 and Lenovo M900 SFF are still in stock.

Brill Lou, thanks for the reply
Anyone having any luck with their website? Not working for me.
The X250's came back in stock and I purchased one for my son. It came yesterday and is in fantastic condition. I am very happy I went with one from here as opposed to Ebay.
There's other links Live now, though the condition may be different (best check before ordering).

Lenovo Thinkpad X250 here
(actually, OOS now)

Lenovo M900 SFF Desktop here
(OOS now, was there when I originally posted this comment)

Lenovo Thinkpad T450 here

LENOVO12 isn't working any more, maybe it was just those specific links above or there was a time limit. The original Thinkpad W541 URL still works. So, I'll Expire as the 12% code isn't available now.

10% codes TWITTER10, THANKS10 and FACEBOOK10 were three that worked not so long ago.

Yes I contacted them but was basically given a hard shoulder and told that it wasn't advertised with an internal battery which is kind of misleading in my opinion. I didn't even know the laptop was supposed to have 2 batteries until I saw it on the laptop itself.

Not a great experience.

Which laptop was it? I've only ever had a Thinkpad X200 so my knowledge of Thinkpads isn't that extensive.

I do know, though, that with these refurbs, it's not unreasonable to expect the batteries to be either almost dud or severely depleted (I bought my own X200 battery and AC Adapter when I bought from SCC Trade, though I think itzoo do supply an AC Adapter, dependent on condition).

I bought the X250 and yes I saw that they mentioned that the batteries would be able to "hold a charge" in their FAQ however they also mention that "All the batteries are tested" and nothing about batteries being missing to begin with.

Because the internal battery is "optional" and it not being advertised to be included means I am inaccurate in saying that it is missing according to the reply I got.

I can't really give you a precise answer as I haven't had an X250, but as these are ex-lease/business laptops it may well depend on the model the original customer required.

From Thinkpad X Lenovo Forums, here

Internal battery is optional in ThinkPad x250, it can upgraded later on, below are the compatible batteries for your model from parts list.

Maybe someone will be able to chime in with better insight. There's been a few X250 refurb threads (similar stock, I'd assume, just different vendors) and I've never seen anyone mention anything about the battery/batteries.

Even so, I believe that the missing battery should have been mentioned in their description as they claimed to have fully tested the batteries so obviously they must have knew about it.

Now I only have the external battery which makes the laptop look more bulky and if I want to put in an internal battery I would have to buy it and then open it up myself to fix the issue.

I am going to read up on consumer rights and maybe open a case with PayPal because this doesn't seem right to me.

If I were in your shoes, I'd just send it back. You're unhappy so there's no point keeping it. As these business laptops are built to different specifications I'm not sure what the outcome would be.
