looks like potentially £25 when you top up with £15 in the first 30 days.

Might get one of these for the other half!

Got 1 of these about 4 months ago when it was £14.97...topped it up with £15 and got £29.97 back...so got it for 'Free'.Tracked and paid out with Quidco no problem.Looks like you only get £25 back now but still a good deal.

But don't forget your credit expires with O2.

I want one for emergencies only, so I'd rather go with Vodafone.

N.B. Voda expires after 180 days if you don't use it AND is more expensive.

thanks

are theses unlocked

This is like big cook ben would say "HOT, HOT, HOT"

I got one of these a few months back for about £15 and didn't top it up due to no signal at home and they still paid me about £30 quidco.

Potentially £5 with £15 topup.

Thanks

O2 as the worst 3G + coverage and if you do get it, it's slow as hell, leave O2 well alone, very poor 3G if any:x

I got one back in the spring to use during travelling (avoiding ££ charges from cheaproom hotels) and Quidco tracked and got paid okay so I ended up with a dongle at nil net cost. Worked reliably enough at a few hundred kbs.

As others have mentioned o2's mobile broadband runs for a set period FROM when you buy the day/week/month, and has a data cap (although public WiFi use doesn't count towards that data cap). Uses proprietary connection management software that's not overly user friendly but mostly effective (on XP/Vista from experience, probably updated now for W7 ?).

My attitude was I had no idea how well it would work but with £HW +£Usage -£Quidco= almost nil net cost, I had nothing to lose apart from my time in experimenting.

I bought one of these in May this year & have been all over the place with it & never had any problems receiving a 3G signal, even when out in the sticks.
Always connects first time & achieves download speeds of approx 3.5mb

Do'nt waste your money, this is O2 the worst 3G coverage ever and the slowest, do'nt get it for the other half they'll hate you for ever, i travel all over the U.K and i was useing a O2 usb dongle, i now use T-mobile and i get 3G almost everywhere and it's like lightening, Please leave O2 well alone if you want 3G

...........................And so it gets HOT after almost a week... Bought one almost a week ago.... Brilliant!

Thanks!

These have the most bizarre coverage. While 'working from home' on the beach once the coverage was superb. I've been in central london and got none or dial-up speeds.
Forget trains, you're just asking for frustration. Mine's free from work and I consider myself gipped.

You must be the only one

I can personally recommend these, I'm using one right now! speeds are pretty good too. Wanted something to use until phone line is installed here, Wish i'd got the deal from here though

I agree

I assume this is locked to O2?

I'm an O2 customer, I have O2 broadband and an O2 mobile contract and I couldn't be happier. However I've tried O2 mobile broadband on more than one occasion and it was utterly useless. I wouldn't have this even if it was free and I'm serious.

Can only be topped up with a debit/credit card so unless you have one, its pretty useless.

If anyone knows how to unlock this so I can put an orange sim in it I'd be cock-a-hoop.

I bought one this summer to use for a month on holiday; it cost me nothing thanks to the Quidco cashback. It worked 100% reliably and I made sure I did plenty of torrent downloads on it to use up the full 3gb cap within the 30 day limit. It was a no-brainer for free and I'd say it's still worth a fiver if you need it for up to a month.

i bought it a while ago when it was at this price, and only topped up with £2 and got the full cashback (tracked and paid already)
can't guarantee if this is going to happen with everybody, but i only needed it for one day. then i got an iphone sim for occassional use on the trains, etc.

I rest my case. Thank you

Can any one recommed a dongle for internet access in France? Need a cheap solution for two weeks over the Christmas holidays. Thanks

I got this dongle with a voucher from littlewoods a few months ago. I bought an iphone sim on ebay and it's been my internet for the last 2 months. Works fine and connects at about 3.5mbps.

Sometimes it switches to gprs (green light turns on) and it's more or less unusable but most of my house is covered by 3g so it's ok.

I'm thinking of buying another one... not sure why though.

Does anyone know the full make an model number of this modem ??

Go for the vodafone MUCH better deal:

hotukdeals.com/ite…nd-

When I recieved mine, I tried my 3 mobile phone sim. I have an unlimited internet addon which I use on my mobile. That seemed to work perfectly with this modem. I guess its unlocked. Can someone else confirm this aswell please..:)

Thanks. I bought a 3 modem the other day but they are really hard to unlock. This will be a good fallback.

Also, I have an O2 PAYG phone. When I top the modem up with £15, will customer services let me transfer it to my phone?

How would you buy the dongle otherwise? Assuming O2 isn't accepting people sending in penny jars these days? I guess if you want to... stay off the grid... then get a topup debit card thingy, they might take the penny jars.

No, there is no time limit on the credit for your TopUp and Go Mobile Broadband as long as you use it regularly.

If you have no credit left and have not used it for 180 days then your account will be suspended but can be re-activated by topping up your account.
After 270 days without use, and if you have no credit, your account will expire.

this is e160 huawei not e610 it is unlocked like most of devices from o2

Can confirm that these are E160's. Never installed the O2 software. Note that the dongle appears as a CD drive, and insists in auto starting the software install every time the dongle is plugged in. So if you don't want the software you need to disable autorun in the registry. The dongle also has a micro SD slot which could be useful.
Installed the generic Huawei Mobile Manager Connect s/w and popped a Vodafone PAYG sim and it works fine. The modem will only support a max speed of 3.6Mbit.

There are a couple of people selling Voadafone PAYG sims on eBay at the moment for around £7 with £15 credit loaded, just search for "Vodafone 1GB". Ignore claims about international use, if they do work at all, your £15 credit will last for 75Mb. Also note that there are some sellesr claiming to sell broadband sims, that are in fact regular voice sims, with the normal high internet charges.

Like a few others I never actually topped up my 02 sim, and still got the Quidco. At £2 a day for wi-fi aceess, it may come in handy one day.
