If it is it's far too slow.

It's a few seconds over 8min/mile pace and provides no headroom for speedwork - Would not recommend.

Not necessarily - at 6'1" and 18 1/2 stone I would consider myself quite fit, just larger than average, and never had too many complaints from my team mates down at the rugby club. At my last medical I had to explain to the poor nurse that I would have to go into seriously negative body fat to acheive the weight she was suggesting for me. The doc took her figures, threw them away and talked about me losing 10 - 14 pounds instead.

Which is why BMI is clearly not an accurate measurement. ALL professional rugby players would be considered obese but I'd definitely not catergorise them as being unfit (well not to their faces anyway )

Anyone have any idea how this compares to treadmills of similar value? I ask because this is one of the few on the Argos website that doesnt have any customer reviews.

Roger Black would have averaged over 32kph hour for his sub 45 sec 400m.

So although this is half price it is almost half speed as well :roll:

For this price I could get a years membership @ puregym :-D

Free for me for local gym (at home and work). But sometimes it's nice to do the exercise at home.

Just judging it by my own speed and what others around me at the gym seem to run at. Most non-runners** seem to run between 7mph & 7.5mph (11.3 & 12km/hour).

When I started running I quickly improved from zero distance to a 90 min half marathon (14.4km/hr) within 6 months. With this item you have to carefully it's not going to limit you. The popular target 2hour 1/2 marathon is 10.5km/hr, but if you were training for that then your 5km pace should be much faster and needs be to keep the body adjusting.

Probably better joining a gym, getting a routine and working out what your own body is naturally good at - plus you get the benefit of spin bikes, classes, pool, weight machines, instruction etc (I changed run style 2months in). The outside is always there 6month later if you fancy a real run.

**Average gym goer, not the run club.
