Looks as know the gif file is not working on here!

Thankyou! Just sent one to a friend as a pressie as she has to keep borrowing one! Rep and heat added, thankyou!

cheers, ordered, thanks. I keep breaking irons! (they don't like being dropped)

M&S don't take a solo card :whistling:

Thanks. Very timely, just tried to do some ironing and the iron refused to work. Looked on the forum and saw this. Hope it's a decent one.

Ordered one!

What makes a good iron? At the moment my wonderful mother does all my washing and ironing. Im in the process of moving out and am going to need one of these of my very own.

What should I look out for?

good one...booked mine just now

ordered one for me mum lol

Ya can get basic irons in Asda etc,Argos have one for 6.99 obviously you have to pay for delivery unless you spend more but if you live near one i'd get that over the M&S one as its more powerful 1600 watt

Ya can buy one for as little as 3.49 in Argos!

Hot.......................

Thanks! needed a new one!

Wattage and steam output (the higher the better in both cases). Also, if you live in a hard water area, look for something with an anti-scale filter. Some people also have a preference of soleplate type (different materials have various advantages/disadvantages).

Bare in mind that this iron is pretty basic (I've a similar one purchased from Wilkinson). It won't heat up particularly quickly, nor will it get very hot. In other words, ironing will take a long time.

The water where we live is very hard so I get through irons at a rate of 2 a year, this is great value sent off for mine.
