Heat!

+ £100 on top if you decide to leave after six months.

Putting in £1,000 and leaving it there should do the trick for both.

That's what I did, as soon as the Natwest switch offer appeared. I did actually want to leave though, as found the phone staff quite surly and the user interface on the website terrible. But £225 for having a bank account for a few months is not bad (plus £175 for switching to Natwest)!

I think the £100 leaving bonus is only if you leave between 6 and 12 months.

Yeah looks like you're right. Between 6 and 12 months according to the site. Paid within 28 days which is nice!
FFS. Only applied last night for the £100 switch. Balls.

Monzo or Starling
Minimum monthly pay-in: £1,000 (equates to £12,675 annual salary) to avoid £10/mth fee, unless you have an average monthly balance of £1,000+ or hold selected other accounts (it's free for first 6mths)
In-credit interest: None
Who's eligible for offer: Anyone who's never held a First Direct account
When bonus is paid: Within 28 days of switching and paying in £1,000+
Shame I've had this account b4
If I switched before can I re switch
I'd misread the OP. This offers only available to those who switch an account. Not open and account from scratch.

I've only one current account which I have with my employer and receive free staff benefits on. I'm not interested in moving that somewhere else.

What if I switch from an account that already has more than £1000, do I still need to transfer £1000+ after the switch is completed?

Transfer it to another bank account and immediately put it back in for good measure

Open free 'donor' account like suggested with Monzo or Starling and then switch to this one. Et voila! Your employee account stays intact

Thanks. I was thinking along those lines.

My kids got me up far too early this.korning and I had read the offer as open an account and get 125, not switch an account and get 125. But it looks like I've 3 months to sort and complete a switch.
Anyone know if this is not available to previous account holders as I was a FD account 7 years ago
Must do this

So you open a bank account.
Chuck in £1k within three months and you get £125
But if you leave between 6-12 months, you get another £100?

Have I grasped this correctly?
Does anyone know if I can get the £125 even though I currently have a first direct mortgage (joint mortgage with my partner)?

You know that the time you hold a bank account for directly affects for your credit score right? For the sake of 125 quid is it worth it? Opening any new bank account just decreases your average time holding a bank account and will reduce your credit score.

Depends whether or not you need a good credit score in the foreseeable future?

I’ve got a first direct account and it’s fab!

The app is quite basic but does the job, you have to log into the website to alter direct debits etc.
no call queues or option pressing and directly through to a lovely Scottish person straight away!!

If you find someone with a first direct account to give you their friend redemption code - you both get £50 on top of this too.
Of course only if you know someone who has an account already!
Great Bank.
How does the app compare to Halifax's one?

Halifax's is definitely good
Shame I have had my account 5 years took my first mortgage with them so had to get the account. There customer service is brilliant so donrecommend them
To get round paying the fee and monthly pay in limits, just open an Everyday Saver with them and chuck a £1 in it. You can still get the 5% Regular Saver too
Can you get this account if you only have a basic bank account and are in a debt management plan with step change or is it only for people with good credit scores although I do earm the required amount per month but had to go on step change after a messy divorce
Sorry pressed cold by mistake. Don’t know if I can change it? Have signed up, thank you.

Hi,

Do you have to do anything for this 'exit bonus' to get the £100 for leaving or if you switch away from First Direct to another bank is it automatic?

Thanks.

You sure about that? If you look at the recommend first direct page it says the friend will get £50 for recommending you and you get £100 when you switch. How do you get an additional £50?

That depends how good their records are!
Just been on facebook chat with them and no you can't get both the MSE and friend recommendation bonuses together.
