125 minutes, 325 texts and UNLIMITED DATA on Virgin Mobile PAY-AS-YOU-GO: £10

A lot of people are unhappy that giffgaff are raising the price of unlimited data from £10 to £12, and don't want to pay the extra £2 or move to a contract.

Virgin Mobile's new pay-as-you-go tariff "Big Data & Texts" may suit them.
It works like this: you top up £10, you get to KEEP THE CREDIT and they'll give you UNLIMITED DATA and 300 texts on top.

As for minutes and more texts, remember I mentioned you get to keep the credit?
Simply use the credit to buy their £10 Talk bundle, which offers 125 minutes and 25 more texts. See:
virginmobile.com/vm/…034

In total, your £10 gives you 125 minutes, 325 texts and unlimited data.

FAIR USE POLICY (copy/paste from Virgin T&Cs):
"For customers on the Big Data & Texts tariff excessive use over 10GB of data per calendar month will result in their maximum bandwidth being restricted to 3G speeds (384kbit/s) on our network between midday and midnight. Excludes all other PAYG tariffs. This policy will apply until the end of the calendar month, when it will be automatically removed."
Elsewhere in their terms & conditions, it's mentioned that PAYG unlimited internet has a fair use policy of 25MB per day. Presumably that's for the other tariffs, NOT this one, hence why they said "Excludes all other PAYG tariffs."

giffgaff is a much better tariff double minutes unlimted texts untimiited data with no ties and they use the o2 network, ive been with Virgin on a 18 month contract and it was a nightmare i couldnt wait to give my 30 days. There fair use policy doesnt make any sense giffgaff has no real FUP and the thing with giffgaff if you do take the **** they don't have your details so they cant sting you with a bill as its a PAYG where as the Virgin isnt. How can you think that this is a better deal.

Virgins T&C what a laugh

Do they have a higher speed than 3G then as i thought that was the highest they did so if you use over 10gb of data they will do nothing at all apart from restrict you to full 3G, i dont know they cant even get there terms right.

Fed up!!

250 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data, free 0800 numbers, free Giffgaff to giffgaff calls and texts all for £12 quid....I don't think so!

COLD FROM ME!

Even at £12 GiffGaff is a much better deal than this.

Giffgaff is rubbish, their 3G signal can pass through thick walls - says the agent. What a load if poo, better off with the three sim200 deal. Best deal atm.

I was with GiffGaff for almost 2 years....but since moving to Virgin mobile I've never had any problems. I discovered the H+ internet speed icon is not just something I get for 3 seconds a day if I hold my phone above my head at just the right angle.

virgin rob you blind. its a good offer to drag you in the door but once youre in things start to change and the deal goes sour.
been with giffgaff for couple of years and a £2 increase to keep my unlimited isn't going to make me want to leave. But if the constant signal and service levels don't improve soon I will start to think again

No doubt it wouldn't be a better deal for everyone; I personally will not be switching from giffgaff. However, having seen the bitter reaction to giffgaff's price rise on Twitter and Facebook, and considering the fact that not everybody requires a lot of minutes, and that not everybody can (or wants to) take out a contract, then Virgin could be seen as a bit of a saviour for them.

"Restricted to 3G speeds" means that they will stop you from using the faster HSDPA standard.

Well if it's anything like my experience with GiffGaff, it's no surprise they didn't know there was a faster than 3G speed (_;)

True about Virgin, would never go with them again!!

I got 500mins, 2000 3 to 3 mins, 5000 txt, unlimited data and a Samsung Galaxy Ace for £13 a month with Three. Retention deal though and 24 month contract.

Three have a great deal
Get the £6.90 Sim which gives

Then phone them up and pay an extra £3 for unlimited data which makes the deal £9.90 for 12 months

The best deal is the one that works for you, I can't get a signal downstairs with three, but virgin just about manage it, there's a home signal box available for three, if you can persuade them to send you one, of course this does rely on a good broadband - virgin cable for me so it would work, but they won't send a box unless I upgrade, and I'm not about to upgrade unless I know their box works...

Had a live chat with customer services at Virgin about whether this deal includes tethering, apparently it does!

Emma: Hello, as a Virgin Mobile order specialist, I can help you set up a new mobile account and select a phone. Are there any questions I may help answer for you today?
You: Really just browsing, does the big data & texts p+g tariff include tethering?
Emma: I would like to inform you about tethering on our Big Data & Texts tariff.
Emma: Yes, you can tether with our tariff.
Emma: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
You: Interesting, I'll nave to have a little think about that. I couldn't see the info in the terms and conditions but makes it a lot more of an appealing offer.
You: Thank you
Emma: You are welcome.
Emma: Thank you for visiting us today.

You cannot talk and surf on Virgin Media at the same time !!!!!
The network will kill off you web surfing while on the phone at the same time this happens after 3 minutes

Just a heads up, when you top up (maybe activate the tariff) your 'unlimited' data and 300 txts don't start until the 1st of the next month...

e.g Top up on 2nd November you don't receive anything until 1st December.

Just about to lose the plot with them, hopefully get a refund and close the account after only 8 hours of being with them.

Edit: Their website is down, toytown company.

Thanks for that info. Just considering Virgin as the idea of still having the credit to work with seemed a great idea and would save money, as my main use is data. Bit of a swindle that you don't get anything till next month.
