The £125 pounds extra to switch to Halifax is back!

(PLUS an extra a £5/month if you choose their Reward account)

For their basic current account, No conditions. But you just have to use their ‘Current Account Switch Service’ to transfer all the active credits and debits from the bank account that you hold with another bank and close that account.

For their reward account, you need to pay in £750/month into the account, have at least 2 Direct Debits, and stay in credit for that month to receive the extra £5 a month free!

No extra cashback through Quidco/TCB that I know about...

Other T&C's apply....

I have an old basic Nat West account that's active but no funds are paid in and another natwest account I use to have child benefit paid into. Do you know if I will be eligible for the offer using one of those accounts? ta

Yes you can switch from your natwest account as long as you switch two direct debit with that account

I posted this originally in June when it was £100.
This will be the easiest money you have ever made. If you think it's too good to be true it isn't!
Massive heat indeed.

Just to be clear the ONLY restriction worth mentioning is that you can't get the money if you have had it since jan 2012.
The £750 funding / 2 dds only applied if you want the £5 monthly reward account ( or discounted £10 ultimate reward)

Damn!! no D/D on either of those accounts and I'm quite happy with my main account with Lloyds so wouldn't want to switch that one

Does than mean just with Halifax? If used first direct last year for example would you still be eligible

Doesn't say anything about swithching 2 direct debits this time....does anyone know if this is the case? I was considering switching my old unused Yorkshire Bank account but don't have any DD's set up

I've done this twice now with accounts and I only had set up a £1 standing order between accounts.
Opened one account for me and one for hubby so £200 with no fuss whatsoever, thank you v much Halifax!

Is there a credit check run when applying?

Yes.

Been with them 3 years now, no probs whatsoever. While being Gran Canaria few days back I used their Clarity card and withdrawing 70 Euros cost me only £50.40.

Yes the switch payment offer exclusion only applies if you have had the switching offer from halifax.

can anyone elaborate on the Halifax's monthly Phone/travel insurance deal please?

Can I switch an account if I already have a HF CLARITY CC but no current account with them?

Yes. In fact, you can even switch even if you already have a Current account with Halifax. In this case, your new Halifax account will not be opened. You will get the switching bonus even if you do not have any direct debits in your old account. The old account will however be closed after the switch. The bonus is paid for you to switch a current account (and effectively close the old account) and not for switching direct debits.

The only exclusion is if you have already availed of the switching bonus in the recent past i.e; after Jan 2012

To be clear..... You only need 2 DD's set up to claim the £5 reward each month, not the cash switch incentive. You will get this when the switch is complete and you've transferred the required sum of money in to the account.

How fast is the money paid out?

When the switch is complete do I get a completely new account number and sort code? Also, will I need to phone up the companies that I have direct debits with to tell them of change of detail?

Did this last time; opened a nat west account, paid a pound into it, transferred it to my existing Halifax = £125 free money. T&C look the same.

Don't know about the phone insurance but the travel insurance is single trip, worldwide cover for 45 days per trip.

Covers family and kids with fairly straight forward declarations for pre existing medical conditions.

It seems hsbc lost all their customers when they swiss tax evasion frauds … It seems hsbc lost all their customers when they swiss tax evasion frauds came to the surface and they are desperately trying to buy back customers. Get your £125 and 2% mortgage and when they go bust/put out of business for their crimes, it won't be worth the hassle.

Halifax are Lloyds banking group.... HSBC is complete separate..... :-/

My recent switch seems to have failed. Set up to switch a dorment account to Halifax at the start of the month, set to switch as soon as possible which I think was either last Thursday or the week before and it hasn't happened. I think I will need to call Halifax about it and make sure I still get the £125 as well.

you don't need 2 direct debits or minimum to be paid in for the normal current account, still get £125

yes, and no all direct debits are switched over for you, you don't have to phone the companies

Just did this last week, no problems so far and recieved my £125 today

They messed my account up and put me on the (fee paying) "Ultimate" Reward Account. I had to go into the branch to fix it, and as a result I made them give me a day's pay (it took about an hour, and I got a paid day off).

So if anyone suffers the same fate, blag it... because they will only offer you about 25 quid for the inconvenience otherwise!

Nice one. Regarding the account closing do I do that or does Halifax complete it? Thanks

i switched last month when this offer was on. Easy, friendly 1hr meeting during my lunch break. No problem, good bank. I'm so glad i switched because my old bank gave me no benefits at all! I'm glad i get an extra fiver a month to spend now (probably on something i see on hukd that I dont really need)

Enjoy the 'benefits' of being a new customer while you can. I've had an account with them since leaving school some 30+ years ago and had never hit on hard times until recently when I requested and got refused for a £150 overdraft. Instead, they were happy to charge me £15 for going overdrawn for 3 days.

Seems like their idea of loyalty only applies to new customers. I'll be leaving as soon as I find an alternative offer worth grabbing.

AVOID!

Had an old HSBC bank that HSBC threatened to close, great solution - Now switched.

Yes, all DD/SO will transfer, you will have to inform your employer of your new account no and sort code to set up your wages.

First direct also doing just made 100 quid with halifax 3 month now to make 100 quid with first direct

Can I open a new bank account to do this? For example, open an account with NatWest and immediately transfer it? Or even open one direct with Halifax?

I quite like the ease of my mobile banking app, although Halifax's may be the same.

How fast is the money paid out?

My 2 account switches paid out within the month of the switch being complete and me putting the money in the account.

So far I've done 2 Halifax, Yorkshire Bank and M&S. FREE MONEY!!

There is a great big post of how best to do this, or just visit Money Saving Expert for the latest incentive and criteria for each bank.

When u have the fee based account you get phone insurance for each person on the account and you do get holiday cover for you and all your family as long as they are of school age or in full time eduction. You also get home emergency cover so if ur boiler breaks you can get it fixed and as break down cover two. Plus up to £300 over draft fee free. Hope this helps

Yes. Just open a dead account with no money in it to start switching and take advantage of the offers.
