Good price voted hot

thought these eees were supposed to be a cheap laptop. Might as well buy a proper one at this price, or am I missing something?

toad

Yeah, you're missing something.
If you don't like it, just stick with a normal laptop.

Well I'll say it then since no-one else has... price drops loom for all EEEs currently available due to the 901 and 1000/1001 hitting the UK sometime in the near future.

Who voted cold! I've not seen this cheaper anywhere...

Cold.

Way too expensive for the breed.

They were meant to be $200 when they came out. Thats $600.

I like the look of these...I know they can be "modded" to do stuff but I don't really know what, anyone want to elaborate? Is this better than my N95 :whistling:

You're voting cold because it doesn't live up to the marketing fluff? You must be thrilled when a rare opportunity to vote hot comes alone.

these are overpriced by about 25% in my opinion. sorry, but cold from me.

This is the cheapest you will find a 12gb Eee PC with XP on it for. Yes they're meant to be cheaper (the comment about $200 and this is $600 is pointless, with technology something thats $200 in America is gonna be about £200 over here, so consider this $300) but the ones that are cheaper have the original specs, the 4gb SSD and Linux, rather than XP which costs extra. This also has the larger screen etc. The problem is not the deal, more that Asus have forgotten what sold the product in the first place. This is the larger version people wanted but they didn't want the rest, the extra RAM, the bigger SSD. Yes you could buy a proper laptop for this money, but they'd have less battery life, be heavier and be bulkier, the point of these is they're small and mobile and do the basics, which they do.

Theres the Asus One thats meant to be £200 that will beat this 10/10

Its not an Atom. Two weeks time this price could plummet.

Not voting, but certainly waiting for all the Eee-rivals (Acer, Dell, MSI, etc) to start selling... then sit back, and wait for the price wars to kick in!

Everything in the UK is overpriced by 25% that's because the British will pay over the odds for everything.

I'm not a laptop know-all so I don't get why these types of laptops are so much more expensive than comparing the specs of others? :?
12gb wouldn't hold my music collection :whistling:

But thats not available yet, so gets voted cold for me. If you want an ultra portable laptop that will do the basics this fills the spec.

(-Kian- the smart way to use these is to have network storage connected at home and then access what you want via wifi)

Guess I invented a true hybrid.

Sorry for being a pedant (posh work for a***). No hard feeling!

these are more 'netbooks' than 'laptops'

I'm in the market for one with XP (not linux) but gonna wait for the 901 to come out on 1st July '08

no optical drive is a bummer but I'd be able to use this with my 3 mobile broadband and take it wherever (signal permitting )

heard that there were lot's of battery isues with the 900 so I'm steering clear and holding out for the 901...anyone fancy the HP 2133?? looks nice but shame about the processor

at least the 901 has the atom
