Been looking for a good dehumidifier for a while now. This looks good looking at the reviews. May go pick one up. Has anyone tried this?

Hot, if this fits the bill for you, but spend more on a desiccant dehumidifier, if you want a better, quieter, and a dehumidifier more suited to our climate.

Like all cheaper compressor systems these figures are misleading-12 litres of water per day (at 30degC/80%RH) - so yes, these compressor dehumidifiers work great in South East Asia but not so well in Blighty.

recommend a decent alternative desiccant model worth looking at thats not an extortionate price?

The next model up is great-as good, if not better than our ebac. Can't comment on this one though.

I have one of these and the next one up (digital version).

This one is nice and simple but a but noisy. The plastics are a bit cheap and can rattle especially when empty. The advantage of this over the digital one is that you can put it on a time switch and it won't complain. The digital one only has a shut off timer but you can't turn it back on with a timer.

Running costs are fairly low if you don't have it hammering away on maximum.

The digital one is a lot quieter though (but £60 extra at the moment).

This seems a good dehumidifier for the price.

I wonder if this dessicant one might be a better buy for more

ok it's quite a bit more...but supposedly because of efficiency you'll save more eleccy anyway so long term better

Can you comment on if its worth paying the extra for the classic one over the simple one?

Half way down this page shows the difference- for me I am a technophile or technophobe depending on what it is. If it is a microwave, or something like this, I want simple easy controls and no "multi-choice" buttons to press and program/set when you want it to just work i.e. I am a technophobe So the Simple one was good for me- very easy controls and I didn't want to bother with the ioniser as I am sure it is something else which needs to be maintained/cleaned/changed.

Why would you need a timer? I plan to keep mine running. Once the humidity has dropped to the level set the dehumidifier will switch off.
