13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar) FREE Battery Replacement Program

Found 25th Apr
Not exactly a deal (although you do get a free battery), but if you own this model you can get the battery replaced free.
Community Updates
The replacement batteries are only available for the 13" MBPs that were (not TB) manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017.

This is a deal because?

Because you could have spent 1000s of ££s and now have a battery that doesn't quite work and yet you are lumbering on because you don't want to pay for it - and then along comes this as a fresh wind of change allowing you to feel free again

Whilst it’s not technically a deal, those who will benefit from this post will be grateful for the OP’s efforts.

I’m not affected by this particular issue, but appreciate people like the OP who make the effort to help others. I’m not going to become a troll and be pedantic about whether it is technically a deal, but instead be happy that there are people in this community who would like to help others.

If a post on here doesn’t help you, you simply need only remain silent - easily done.

If however, you do feel the need to challenge a beneficial post, as to whether or not it’s a deal, then feel free to post pedantic questions if that makes you feel better.

Thanks for posting OP!

Or you could have had the hindsight in the first place to have not bought …Or you could have had the hindsight in the first place to have not bought a machine with in-built planned obsolescence and saved a few quid. But you have failed to answer the question? The answer is "It's not a deal, but a freebie".

You my friend, have failed

I own mid 2012 macbook pro model, not eligible for battery replacement.
13 in MBP manufactured between Oct 16 to Oct 17
Title needs updating as it’s only the MacBook Pro
Needs the age range adding too.

Needs the age range adding too.

The first paragraph of the article states "Affected units were manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017".
So only for newish models?

Freebie would be something you get without having paid for it - clearly not in this case But hey its all semantics doesn't matter that much - lets just say its a post that raises awareness that a thing like this is possible - what say

So one is to assume that those who received a MBP as a birthday/Christmas gift are exempt from this deal?

But it's not a deal, so unless you can explicitly inform everyone how it is one, it will remain not to be one.

Even the OP says it is not a deal!

It should be listed under Freebies.
Does this include the one with the touch bar?

Clearly didn't check my profile well enough. Better luck next time...
I hate this, they always give me a replacement which is a refurb and it has some other issues. Like my old Beats headphones, three of them had issues, took the forth to be ok.

Mine isn't eligible apparently

Probably because they already had to replace the whole bottom deck of the laptop under warranty due to a faulty key on the keyboard, which necessitates a whole new bottom half of the chassis including new battery. Just for a faulty key! Can't imagine the cost if out of warranty but I still love the MBP. Just make sure you get Applecare...
