This deal is on again but this time they are offering a £5 credit for any additional empty gas bottles you might have.
In the past they have never asked for an empty cylinder so maybe some people might have an empty or 2 hanging about. Sadly I got rid of 2 when i moved house recently.

Only £1 for return of 13kg butane, £5 for various propane cylinders. Good deal though, heat.

Not liking the "we will decide if the cylinder return is worth the credit".....can`t help feeling this will happen quite a lot!

Heat for the deal though

Slightly misleading as you have to have a empty cylinder to get the price ....

Disgraceful way of doing business - "send it to us and you won't get it back - we might pay or we might not, whatever we feel like!"

I have an empty bottle like this which i need to get rid!

Exactly! They are going to quibble over giving you a pound after you do them a MASSIVE favour of giving them back something they can re-sell! It should be money back no quibble.....would rather keep giving them to my local craft person to turn into stoves

That's criminal damage!

You buy the gas in the bottle - the bottle remains the property of the company (flo gas). This is just an incentive to get people to return the bottles quicker instead of sitting on them

If its a calor bottle, get a minimum £7.50 back at this link

Thanks for this - much better arrangement

Is this better than their propane at £24.99 for 18kg?

Glad i get my 47kg bottles for £47 heat for these small ones tho.

Difference between propane and butane please? I could google that but I'm not after the chemical differences but rather the practical differences for domestic use.

Thats possible too...but if they charge a fee for the first bottle and then want to give you a MASSIVE reduction for the return of the bottle its no wonder they are not getting them back

Been using them for a couple of years , good service and cheapest in my area.

Google also gives you the information you seek, but off the top of my head ;

Butane burns at a lower temperature than propane,(thus propane normally used for patio heaters)

Propane has a lower freezing point than butane, thus commonly stored outside (caravans etc) and sees no adverse affects (in normal UK weather certainly)

Butane is normally cheaper.

Basics which I think your looking for...?

In short no.

They dont normally give money off for return of empty cylinders, but there normal price for 13kg of butane is £23.99.

Even without an empty to enable you to get 13kg of butane for £19.99, £20.99 is excellent value.

Thinking of getting a patio heater this year. Any idea how many hours one of these would last on full?

Yes.. but it's only £1 more if you dont have an empty.. Still a good deal.

Stupid question alert. We've got a Webber bbq which i tried to get a replacment cylinder for last year, the one I have is a 6.3kg propane but the local garage changed suppliers and the replacement cylinder I bought from the garage wasn't compatible with my attachment on the Webber, so I returned it and got my old empty cyclinder back which has been stuck in the garage.

So I assume i'd need some sort of adapter to run Butane on the Webber BBQ ? does anyone have any experience of this and which adapter I would need and is it ok to use butane instead of propane for a BBQ?

Hope this makes sense and many thanks for nay help.

Thanks, I don't have a bottle, and won't be needing this till the end of the year, so I will probably just pay the extra few pounds and have it delivered to my new home, cheers for that

Yes it's perfectly fine for you to use butane for your Weber BBQ.

You will need to change the regulator, 13kg butane requires a 21mm clip on regulator, £8.99 @ GasDeal or available online eBay or Amazon etc ; example

I use this brand and get nothing from my local place for returning the cylinders. Over the years I could have accumulated a small mountain of them.

Calor charge you quite a hefty "deposit! for their bottles initially and are more expensive on the gas than Flo-Gas.
