Not bad in my view. I believe the touch models feature a higher spec cpu, although this is 6th gen, were now approach8ng 8th gen times

Yeah 3.1GHz speed vs 2.3GHz speed for the non-touchbar version, if I remember rightly

If I had the cash to drop on this, I would. I'd say I'm not sure why this is so cold, but I think we all know

Heat added from me, great price

Thankyou Apple deals always seem to go cold, especially Mac ones I knew it would but I wanted to try to help someone looking for the same laptop as me

Good deal, although looking for a deal on the 2017 15inch model.

I have a 2011 iMac and a 2013 Macbook Pro, and even to this day they're both still going strong. I'm a massive gamer (as you may have guessed at some point) and I still wouldn't swap any of them for a Windows PC

Nice! My windows laptop was as slow as anything after windows 10 (and even before W10 it would not handle even basic games) and finally gave up the ghost a few days ago. Excited to be receiving my MacBook in two days

I have used every edition of Windows from 3.1. I gave up on Microsoft at Windows 10 because of all the problems it caused me. Last year I decided to go for a refurbished MacBook from Apple, and I am glad I did. I still have to use Windows for a few minutes per week, but will never go back to that OS for everyday use. I’m not into games, so cannot comment on which system works best for that, but compared with my work with Microsoft and Apple, the Macbok has been far superior and effortless

Kind of same here. I’ve used windows my entire life, and was probably just around for Windows 99.

Windows 10 was the worst updates and I wish I had never got it. Unfortunately, having an excessive interest in technology I always love upgrading to new OS etc.

My windows laptop gave up the ghost after only 4 years (though I’d had problems with it from day one, e.g. faulty screen/ pixel lines that resulted in a trip for it to be fixed, thankfully under warranty).

When I do get the MacBook, I will be trying to fix my windows one when I can afford it so that I can use it for syncing my phone. Best bet is probably the fan malfunctioning or being clogged up, as it was overheating a fair bit. It’ll also be the battery I think too, as it wouldn’t charge, and I’d permanently have the charger in.

A little confused as to how a £1549 price from John Lewis can get heat (a week ago) vs this.

I understand that John Lewis has 2 years warranty, but they may be able to price match Argos for this

New. I almost decided to wait for Black Friday but I made the decision to purchase in the end as I doubt it’ll be any cheaper. Besides, you could probably return it if you do

Also, if you ask John Lewis to price match they might do so and you’ll get 2 years warranty so I’d also suggest this

Torn at the moment what to go for out of a Windows PC or a MacBook Pro. I do most of my gaming on my Playstation 4 however the only PC game I play is Football Manager. Obviously with Windows you can get better spec for the money but kind of had enough of Windows with all the numerous updates and feels really sluggish.

Would you still go for a Mac based on my needs? I don't use my home PC for video editing or anything like that so the 13" would probably be able to do the job.

Yeah, especially since the updates appear to be getting worse.

I have seen several Windows PC’s and all of them seem to only work fine for the first few months and then some problems will appear (usually overheating, battery charging etc issues).

I’ve been on Windows all my life, and the best OS out of the ones I’ve used for Windows was probably Windows 7.

I already have an iPhone and iPad so it makes sense for me to get a MacBook, and if you have an iPhone/iPad then it makes sense for you as well.

I think the only problem with MacOS is that it apparently dumbs things down. But this may be good for some people (not for me!).

If you take your laptop around a lot then it may be lighter too. I’ve heard Macs are fairly light, but since the only light computer I’ve ever held was a Chromebook, my expectations are probably going to be high.

I also have an iPhone and iPad so was partly the reason why I am looking to jump ship for the first time to Mac OS

The only other thing I have been considering if whether to get an iMac. I have never really taken previous laptops out of the house as I will usually just take the iPad however I guess it's handy to have the portability if you did want to.

Would you still go for a Macbook Pro over an iMac?

Yes yes yes 100%. I would make do with a windows computer for a desktop computer, as even though I dislike W10 it is still good for desktop, and is cheap enough for decent specs. I feel like on a MacBook, the features would be used more. And besides, the accessories for iMac are expensive. Just my own opinion

I should be getting my MacBook tomorrow so I’ll let you know. I plan on fixing my old laptop eventually too so then I’ll be able to do the comparison.

I just received my MacBook today and it’s fairly good. It came dead so I had to charge it before I could use it, and it turned on after about a minute. It came in good packaging too, so the MacBook and the box were absolutely fine.

One essential thing that I did accidentally discover is that you have to download updates from the App Store. I updated mine to Mac OS X High Sierra (which it is doing now).

The keys feel very nice, and the light for them can be turned on and off and you can change the brightness of them.

Caps lock you have to hold down for a second (you could probably change this in settings). The @ button is at the number 2, so that will take some retraining for me.

One good thing is that there are two charging ports on each side, so there’s no worrying about breaking the charger by bending it.

I did have problems connecting mine to the home internet initially so I connected it to my phone, but after the set up I was able to get it connected (I think I missed one of the letters beforehand but you couldn’t see).

Its very thin. I went from a HP laptop to the MacBook, so it was really nice.

It did start heating up a little on my lap so I’ve moved it onto a computer tray that I’ve quickly borrowed from my family (I knew I should have bought one!).

The touchbar is a little bit of a gimmick but I’ll try training myself into using it.

The App Store is the same as on iPads etc. You can even install games onto it such as township, so it’s like a bigger iPad.

I haven’t been too confused by Mac OS yet. Obviously the opposite corner for the closing stuff etc is a little confusing.

Siri is a great addition, but again will probably become more of a gimmick. Unlike with iPhones etc, if you ask Siri how much battery you have it’ll tell you.

Cheers Dolphinzz appreciate your feedback Looking to hopefully purchase very soon

Unfortunately the price has since gone back up

I managed to get John Lewis to price match it yesterday against the 2017 touch version they had listed at £1749 can’t believe they didn’t notice. Only issue is I wanted space grey and they matched silver only as that was all Argos had in stock at the time. I’m waiting to see if they come down anymore on Black Friday deals it states in the email I have 28 days to purchase so all good and covered

Ah I’ve only had one days use as I only got it today I absolutely love it so far though. It’s hard to get used to at first though, because stuff like copy and paste shortcuts use the function keys instead, scrolling you have to use the buttons first and then it’ll let you scroll the side.

I really like how there are two charging ports each size. It’s really useful.

It does boot up fairly fast, which is good around the time my old windows laptop took before windows 10 was installed on it.

It does appear to scratch super easily though because of the material. It’s already got its first scratch in the corner (see pic) despite being fairly careful with it.

If you’re getting a case on amazon, get that before you get the computer as I ordered my case to come today but it never did.

John Lewis have the non touch bar 13" model for £1,099 but would like the Touch Bar model ideally as they seem to have better processors in.
