This is my first time posting so apologies if I make any mistakes.

I've seen this deal in every PC World and Currys that I've visited recently, which is quite a few in the North West. Don't know if it's nationwide.

I didn't note all the specs, but it's:
2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
2 GB RAM
250 GB HD (I think...)

These are all on clearance deals, but not refurbished or display models. Cheapest price I've seen for a new Macbook Pro. They're also eligible for the £50-off deal if you have a working laptop to trade in.

Not a bad deal. The equivalent on the Apple store is £999 but comes with 4gb ram. Hot from me. 2gb ram is not worth £200.

If it's defintley a Macbook Pro and not a Macbook, but my feeling is it's MacBook and not the Pro. As that spec matches the current Macbook spec and current Macbook Pros are 4gb ram Unless it's old stock Macbook Pro.

In which case it's well worth it

You sure its the new Pro's?

Look for what it says for battery life, if its 10hours then yes its the new ones i believe.

argos also sell the current macbook pro 13 with 2gb RAM

Note: if you are a student you can get the 4GB model from the apple store for £858 and from what the sales rep on the phone was suggesting you get 3 years warranty (please double check).

wouldnt dream of buying any mac with 2gb or lower ram

I assume the ram could be replaced quite easily. I think its quite a good deal. I am in the market for a Macbook Pro so might pop into PCWorld today. Do they have any other discounts codes/offers at the moment?

Well argos either got their iformation wrong ot the maths wrong why would you pay 999.99 for a 2gb machine when you get the same with 4gb at apple store and the stores are nicer too.

Students get money off but it won't be 858 with 3 years warranty if it is take it as apple care i think is normally between 140 to 200 dependent on the product

Yes I thought the same about the Argos price. As for apple, when I spoke to the sales rep she tried to sell me apple care for £45ish which is really cheap. When I asked her if buying from the education store automatically gives you 3 years warranty she said yes it does but with the apple care you get international 'pick up an repair' service and also their free telephone support.

The best deal was from the apple education store when they were doing the ipod touch rebate but it expired while I was umming and arring. Two days later my HP laptop died so I am kicking myself now.

It is definitely a Pro. The MacBooks are also on clearance offer for a little less, but it's not half as good a deal in comparison.

When I said "new" I was meaning to differentiate from refurbished models, which I have seen cheaper. In other words, this is the cheapest "unused" model. I don't know whether they're the same models currently sold by Apple. Sorry for any confusion.

Didn't catch the graphics card or the battery life I'm afraid. Tag said 2GB but I didn't enquire further to check.

any more info on this???

a decent price for last years stock however the battery and graphics are not as good as the newer version and if you can swindle student pricing from apple and get currys to price match (which i did) u can get the newer version for £845
however hot for the old version!

Banned

how do you swindle discount???

blag it

Banned

dont you need a card or something to get student discount???

you do in apple however the macs make currys £500 profit so they dont mind going half way with you just say apple store will give it to you at this price need proof but apple will print the price off for you and done and dusted plus the cover at currys is better than the apple care

Banned

yeah but im not a student so apple will print of the price they charge so how would i get one for £850 lol

tbh as i have never used a mac they do seem expensive. They are only as good as windows laptops of a couple years back but more stylish or am i missing something? suppose 13inch aluminium etc carries a premium.
poor comment abit off though - this is a deal for poor mac users!

The thing is, can you find a 13-inch Windows laptop with decent processor, dedicated graphics and a premium build for a cheaper price? I wish I could, because that's what I'm looking for and can't justify spending £800. 13-inch laptops are always pricey, or they compromise on graphics or processor.

The RAM and hard drive are quite poor in this deal, but both are cheaply and easily upgradeable so it isn't a deal breaker.

does seem fairly hard but then whats the full specs of this?
if its new model (which i dont think is being suggested) it has a 320m but if the older on i think may have a 9400m. quite a difference there
if the older card then a few of better spec around (asus+acer mainly) but if the newer card then alot more difficult and none with the alu body.

that sainsburys link is decent machine but its more entry level than top of the range

Typical comment from people who thinks they know best.

This is an excellent deal if it is the latest model.

But judging from the 2GB, it would appear to be the previous model (2009) with 9400M gfx.

Just been to PC World/Currys at Leicester Fosse Park. Your typical pushy sales people who will look on the system but want you to buy the latest and greatest who don't know the fact's & figures on the Macbooks. There is 1 in Derby priced at £750 but they try and sell you one of the newer ones.

lol a mac are over priced yes all apples products are thats just a fact however, i have a gaming pc and a mac and i use the mac more for everyday features than my pc
macs do cost more but you save in certain ways antivirus for one.
so unless you experience one never take them for granted, and like all apple products each version does a different thing better than the others
so you find what you want to do and get that version don't just go after the cheapest cos you a tight ass.
