Nah its the one with the dodgy batteries just ask japan airlines last month

Unfortunately we love the Maldives but do enjoy an odd alcoholic drink or 2 when on our hols so that the fact that there is no alcohol at all allowed on the Island stops us from going.
& as for the comment about the return flight being a 13hrs killer, went on the Dreamliner to the Maldives at the beginning of December & it took 9.5 hours to get there & just over 10 on our return flight & to be fair the Dreamliner is very very comfortable.
Also a shame that the Thomson/First Choice group are relocating this Dreamliner to Mauritius from April of this year so they will not have the Maldives as a destination at all !!!!!

Apologies, I'm being a wally! Found them now xxx

Dreamliner, let's hope they aren't grounded when you are due to go!

Not a holiday for me if I can't have a cold beer or a glass of wine.Cold from me.:
However if you don't mind not having a drink, its not a 13 hour flight unless they've relocated the Maldives.

I cant find it - guess all gone

Gone ??? Can not find it anywhere ?

You cant drink alcohol in the Maldives? Since when????

absolutely. stonk ing deal! !!!

Regarding alcohol im more than certain you are allowed it in the hotels as certain hotels have different all inclusives for premium branded alcohol.. I think its in the citys and outside the hotel the restrictions are in place. Btw this is an outstanding deal! Super crazy hot!

Went to the Maldives last year, absolutely heaven on earth & cost mega bucks. Can't wait to go back!

Don't know where you stayed in the Maldives but alcohol is available in all hotels, the only thing you are not allowed to do is bring alcohol into the islands as it will be confiscated at the airport. The price of drinks reflects the fact this is a strict Muslim country but you certainly can drink readily at any hotel (at least where we went!)

Also you may want to note the following info on this island:

'As the guesthouse is located on the local island of Rasdhoo, government … 'As the guesthouse is located on the local island of Rasdhoo, government regulations require that guests do not wear bikini or similar swimwear while in the area. However, the excursions can be arranged to picnic islands for guests where these restrictions are not applied."

Not how most would define a beach holiday in the true sense, as with other recent Maldives bargain holidays it's not exactly the stereotypical Maldivian experience!

The reviews off the people who have stayed there are excellent on booking.com and tripadvisor so i'd be more inclined to follow that advice as opposed to someone looking at a picture

Not this Hotel, but I nearly died when I realised that there was no TV when we went. One of my fav holidays, but glad it was only a week. Our resort was basic but more of a spa type beach bungalows. As opposed to 1970s Wolverhampton (which is what this hotel seems to look like) If youre going to go. Pick the right island for you. Its a long way. Basic is great, but I wouldnt want to go all this way to stop somewhere that only has a couple of reviews only going back a few weeks. If you can go for a resort island that only has the one hotel. The less people & civilisation around to spoil the natural beauty the better. Although Islamic, our Hotel served beer from the bar (they shipped in Indian staff to serve it!)

without All inclusive the bills really mount up , not like you can go elsewhere for dinner or a beer

Don't know about the hotel but stayed in another resort when I visited last month. One if the most beautiful place on earth. However, u looking at least £25 per person per meal so add another £350 (at least) for 14 days

I second that. Don't think of The Maldives like any other holiday, there are no restaurants down the road or anything like that. Your hotel is the island. I've had an amazing holiday in The Maldives which was all inclusive and thoroughly recommend it but check those bar and restaurant prices (if you can?).

We went for 2 weeks with 3 yr old and loved every minute .. total relaxation, spent hours just gazing out to sea, BEAUTIFUL
well I must of been running on one engine lol , went 7 yrs ago and took 13 hrs return flight .... and we had ALL DRINKS at the resort and we went to the smallest island ( and cheapest Lol)

why muslims conquered such a nice places

btw I guess that sex on the beach is also excluded then... and I don't mean the drink

Dreamliner you say ? I'm out

The transfer from Male to Rasdhoo appears to be an extra. That 30 mile trip in a dhoni boat could take quite a while and once you're outside the protective reefs around the islands, the sea can be quite choppy. How much is a seaplane transfer going to be on top?

I've stayed in a few Maldives resort islands and visited one or two 'populated' islands which were pretty shabby with rubbish all over the place lapping along the shoreline. The locals treat the ocean like a big rubbish bin and the hotel resorts have teams of immigrant workers going around picking it up 24/7. Hopefully the hotel on this island have trained the locals to be a bit more thoughtful.

Good price for the Maldives but Rasdhoo is not a resort island and as far as I could tell when I visited it on an afternoon trip from the neighbouring Kuramathi island it doesn't have any of the luxuries you would expect from a maldives holiday and dont think there is much to do there. Would definitely head back to kuramathi but think people will be disappointed arriving on Rasdhoo

Most tourists are taken straight to their island hideaway by seaplane or speedboat, where they are free to drink alcohol and get luxurious spa treatments, insulated from the everyday Maldives, where alcohol is outlawed and skimpy beachwear frowned upon.

Kept thinking where have I heard that name before!! Yes i stayed on Kuramathi (amazing) and visited rasdhoo for the 'shopping trip' it was a dump. loads of rubbish. Far from paradise.

They still haven't fixed the battery problems on those dreamliners, they've just rigged up a fire extinguisher system for when it does erupt.

should be called the nightmareliner
