im not ashamed to admit that i love a Toby Carvery, Beef + Gammon, Yorkie pud, Stuffing, and a mountain of roast potatoes,
then drizzle 4-5 tea spoons of horse raddish all over it followed by 2 ladles of gravey

I'm not ashamed to admit I loathe Toby Carvery. Going there feels like a prison sentence . . .

. . . but when you have friends who love it . . .

How does it work? I mean....is it “all you can eat?”

they serrve you you're chosen meat/meats and a yorkie pud, then you help yourself to veg/spuds/stuffing,
you can go back to get more veg/spuds etc but ive perfected the art of stacking my plate high so one visit to the food counter is enough

Yes it is, just don't expect to much meat our local must hold an in house competition to see who can cut it the thinnest.

The one at Chapel Allerton, Leeds you can help yourself to Yorkshire pudding so you're not limited to just one! Go there all the time with the 2 main course for £10 deals on the app, or 50% off your food bill.
Good value with this deal though I must say I wasn't very impressed on the one time I went. Also it's one of those places you'd be mad to go without some sort of deal; just about everyone is using vouchers, etc.
£7.50pp for a sliver of meat and veg that has been kept warm. Are you mad? Save on petrol, avoid queues plebs and chavs.
Stay home .. cook better food for a fraction of the price and have some left over for your snap during the week.

If you can get a joint of beef and lamb also all the trimmings for £7.50 plus a pint of beer. Then ill come to your restaurant.

Here's the thing... you don't get a joint of beef and lamb..... You get a slice off each. Trimmings cost pence. You may want to rethink your statement. But you are more than welcome to come round for dinner.

Yeah but you would have to buy a joint to make a dinner.

That is £7.50s worth of goodness.
A couple of pints of beer would set you back approximately £6.50/7 depending on where you are located. It's not a bad deal for a £4 carvery.
We went, yes on a deal from the app, last weekend. Good choice of meat, veggie options and vegetables, all nicely cooked and presented. Maybe our local Toby is above average but would go again for definite!

the space taken up by the peas, cauliflower and carrots is a waste, you could have used the space for extra Roast Spuds

Where do you live bud? Come dine with me are casting!
The Carvery concept is brilliant. However it is let down by the 'burnt vegetable flavour' this seems to occur due to kitchen staff not stirring the vegetables regularly.

Also Toby waiting staff need training in basic customer service skills. As do the so called 'Managers'.

That looks grim
It’s an ok deal if you like frozen veg that’s overcooked, instant mash with ladles of marge mixed in and a selection of overly fatty meats.

But it’s not too bad as a pint of fosters is £4.50 round these parts.

I can assure you it is proper mashed potato. It may be frozen but it's made from potato.

Instant is also made from potatoes, even checked with the wait staff who also said it’s made from instant and shed loads of marge added
We eat at our local Toby a couple of times a month. Funny to see the heaped plates picture above but to be honest I prefer to upgrade to Kingsize plate so I can see what I’m eating. I usually go for all beef selection because to buy a decent joint at home is so expensive. All the meat is cooked to a high standard. The potato is not instant mash - I wouldn’t eat there if it was.

I love the cauliflower cheese they do
toby carvery is ok as long as you avoid the beef, which is awful - rest of the meat is usaully fine

Its not instant mash and veg isn't frozen. You need your taste buds examined. I know as my nice and some friends work or used to work in one, so i know

Only the beef is fatty - fat is good for cooking anyway as it makes the meat taste better/more succulent, just dont eat it - really not hard
£4.50 for a pint of fosters....gulp...

That's up towards what I would willingly pay for a pint of Peroni out and about...

someone is making a lot of money, Toby must be able to buy 95% of the different flavours of Lager that it sells for less than £1 a pint, I know I can when I visit one of the big supermarkets...
