I've been looking at all the 15" laptop deals on here, in particular the Dells, and they never seemed to have quite the right balance of components for me, in particular they still have ATI 4XXX graphics cards. I ended up preordering this one. Its biggest disadvantage, aside from being Acer which some people seem not to like, seems to be that the screen isn't 1080P and there isn't an option to make it one. Good mid range 5XXX series graphics card, though, which will be fine for the native res of the panel for gaming, and HDMI out if you're desperate for 1080P BluRay playback.

Don't believe the £100 off RRP on the play.com website, though. Everyone else that seems to be listing this for pre-order is asking for 700quid as well.

Sorry, only second deal post. I'll get the hang of it eventually

good deal. voted hot

Only 1366x768? A bit weak, but the rest of the specs are pretty solid for the money.

Seems like the standard price to me; several other suppliers offering it at £700.

I'd be smoking hot if it were closer to £600.

Aye, it's certainly the standard price for the unit. I only posted it because I think it presents a much better balanced offering for someone vaguely interested in gaming and multimedia than any of the other 15" laptops out there at that price point that I could find. Might save someone else doing as much homework

Warning! I tried ordering a laptop from play a few months ago... it never came. They took my money from my bank and never dispatched the item!

Their customer service teams confirmed that the item was still in the warehouse.

They promised to have it re-delivered and nothing.

The "courier" company they used didn't even leave a calling card for the item. I chased play.com for like... weeks for a tracking number and when I finally get one... I find out that the courier had already sent the item back, yet I didn't get a refund.

Super dodgy company! Their T&C's state that they won't withdraw money from bank accounts until the item will be dispatched, yet they took the money, never dispatched, never provided a tracking number.

Be VERY cautious of play.com.
