It says on the label: frying, baking, roasting, spreading. You can also use it on your skin/hair

Going by the amazon reviews for this it's a really good one to go for! I thought it was expensive when I first seen it and had yet to shop around but there isn't much in it going by online! Don't see how it could go cold going by price and reviews!

Cooking is popular being a healthier fat... Skin complaints.. Hair ... Oil pulling ( whitens teeth drains bacteria ) lots of good uses for coconut oil.

Hersheymad if you are thinking of using it as cooking oil then this is one of many ideas that is not as goods they sound , in practice they bring unexpected problems .In a very hot country like India, especially in summer particularly in northern half , it was used and probably stil is along with other supermarket products, as hair moisturizer oil only. I don't think you had that in mind .Only coconut and coconut products are consumed .

I use it for cooking and it's lovely

I know the possible benefits of using coconut oil are a bit OTT, and the supporting scientific data doesn't show much benefit, but what unexpected problems are you talking of? I have used it as a cooking oil with no problems.

Yes and once I found smoking lovely .After all tobacco is a plant leaf .

Low smoking point, alright for very light frying at low temperatures, but just not really that ideal. To brown food you need 190c, smoking point of virgin coconut oil is 180c so you have to be very careful (unless you don't care about stuff like that). Virgin Rapeseed oil is a better and cheaper alternative with a higher smoking point at around 200c. Saying that, coconut oil is great for hair and skin, so not entirely useless, and if you can stomach it it's great if eaten raw.

I use this coconut oil on my skin and hair and I have no complaints. Skins and hair has never felt better.

I am not a doctor but in India from time ot time some poor and desperate people use it for cooking and because of health problems it brings abandon it as soon as they can and you don't need a doctor to tell you that . It may be catalyst for health problems. Almost all Indian households have some coconut oil in the cupboard but never ever used for cooking or flavoring . If you want to use it I suggest some research into it .

Health problems such as? You keep mentioning how bad it is but you provide no facts to back this up. Specifics please

I just realized supermarkets don't stock it in cooking oil section with various other cooking oil bottles and if there is one then I think it is better to use that .

Sorry TonyLew I don't know anyone using coconut oil for cooking here or India travelling from Goa, Bombay to central India to Punjab.I cannot provide more knowledge about something I don't know much about . I'm just saying as things are .

I use this for cooking banana pancakes(1 banana,2 eggs) and they're lovely not tried it in savoury dishes yet.
