Using the Unidays code 15% off all purchases to MS store. Just purchased an i7 256Gb surface for 1529.15 down from 1799, deal also applies to the more expensive 512gb version for a max saving off around 340 quid. This is better than the previous combo of 10% off the student store and 5% quidco as it's immediate reduction, although worth checking quidco as they have had cashback on MS store on and off for a while. Add in cashback on the credit card and I will be paying just under 1500 for the i7 256Gb Surface Book.

Unidays account was free, all I had to do was log into the online portal of the university. Even after graduation I maintained access as an Alum so it should be easy to get although I can't check as I'm currently on the books as a PGR student.

First deal so please forgive any errors.

really thought this might be the product to bring me back to Windows and sell all my Apple products.... then I heard about all the problems and remembered why I bought a Mac in the first place! watch the video below before buying!

BTW I've voted hot for the deal!
Got to say these are the best laptops on the planet at the moment - a lot more exciting and innovative than a boring old mac.

Um they are not laptops. try using one on your lap. They are tablets with magnetic keyboard just like the linx 10"

Also I think they are overpriced for what they are, you could buy a Mac air n
and a good laptop for the price of some of them.

Don't trust a single review! Check other ones or buy the device for yourself and see if you like it. If not you have 30 days return policy, no questions asked. I own one and literally can't think of a better laptop (or hybrid if you prefer) on a market right now. It's fast, smooth, small, light, no bugs, no glitches, perfect screen resolution, pen works amazing, keyboard feels fantastic (in fact, i'm typing on it right now!).

Or you could get mac for the same price, with similar specs but no touchscreen, no pen and no connection with other devices that are no apple Don't get me wrong, I know why one might prefer mac cause of iOS, but Windows 10 really improves a lot and feels much better overall and you can use it with Android, different cameras etc.

Yeah I've seen some of the reports on issues, but they all seem to be software rather than hardware. A lot of people have been posting lately that MS have been really active on pushing software updates and fixed a lot of the issues and lots of the early adopters and reviewers highlighted that newer production units tended to be a lot better.

I'm making the move from Android, my Nexus 9 has had nothing but issue after issue in both the hardware and software and google have been utterly useless. It's currently away for repair under warranty, but even if they fix it I've decided I'm going windows and hence the SB purchase.

To be honest everything has issues, especially if it's brand new particularly on laptops, Macbooks have a lot of issues they just get round it by having really good customer service. And I'm used to windows eccentricities at this point so they don't much bother me, the hardware is pretty impressive so I'm going to give it a go and because of my software needs and the fact I like to game Apple isn't an option at all.

Actually I was talking about the surface book not the surface pro so he is right it is a laptop. It uses a physical memory wire connection not a magnetic one.
This is a hot deal. I haven't had any problems. Both are the i7 USA models.
http://i.imgur.com/Fw70Fwrm.jpgThere have been quite a few recent updates. Best computer devices I have purchased. Oh and the keyboard is NOT magnetic.

But you dont get certain features and they only go up to i5
Doesn't sound like you've owned one at all though? In that case, you're being silly.

Coming from someone who has owned/been a Mac for 6 years (and won't go back) I had a Pro 3 for 6 months as a work device and I miss it so much!

I bought a Mac for my wife, because she only used it for basic stuff and thought it would be great for avoiding the usual Windows problems, how wrong I was, despite there being around 6 possible hardware combinations, Apple still managed to send out an update that borked the DVD drive, which entailed hand editing XML files to fix, then there's the 1990s style of problems with hardware that happily works with every PC I've ever thrown at it. The Mac looked good, and when it was working, it was a dream, but too many problems getting it to work with anything none Apple, it was like time travelling to the past with old Windows.

That said, there's no way I'm paying Apple prices for Windows hardware, I'll take a little less sexiness for a whole lot less money and choose something other than a surface model.

it's actually nice to see positive comments on this device from owners. the reviewer I post is one of the top and most honest guys on the net. just Google him. he wanted to love the device but had nothing but problems. he buys all his products or fully discloses where they came from every video. I looked at one in JL and it is a really nice bit of kit. I don't mind windows but much prefer Mac OS X. interesting to see those who had problems with Macs. Most of the guys I know who work in IT would only buy Mac. After all it was proven to be the most reliable windows machine in independent testing!
Way overpriced for what it actually is.

Makes Apple pricing look almost reasonable.

I think you're thinking of Surface Pro 4.. not Surface Book - and yes you could buy both of those things but even combined they wouldn't be as good, as practical or as unique.
I was really looking forward to getting one of these because of the dedicated GPU but cancelled my preorder after seeing that it was only a 940m. I wanted something that could handle my day to day work but also play some games in the evenings. For the money the new XPS 15 is a far better buy. I've played the new Tomb Raider and Fallout 4 on mine at medium settings and it handled them very well.

Yeah I would definately have preferred a 960m, but I've got a desktop and I'm happy with steam streaming. For the odd bit of gaming on the go the updated 940m with ddr5 is plenty to run all but a handful of my games. Tbh I quite like it as it pushes me to play something other than just the latest aaa games. But if it's your only machine and you want to game I would get a razer or aurus over this.
My Surface Pro 4 is the best device I've ever owned. What a machine. Flawless.
Well my surface book just arrived, after a few niggles of it needing to be charged and updated it's up and running. And I have to say it might just be the best laptop I've ever had. Feels fantastic, the screen is brilliant, blazing fast so far and windows 10 actually really shines on this thing. Really good purchase, all I need now is the baseqi sd card adapter so I can expand the storage a bit and a decent case.
