15% off Apple products for students (one transaction per year)

Hiya.

Not a lot of people know this but if you are a student or you know a student you are able to get 15% off apple products (excluding iPhones) and also you get a huge discount on applecare. You can also get it even if you NOT a student, but you have to purchase it only. If you are a student, with a student card, you can go instore and show you id card.

I am not a student myself, but I knew someone who was. All I had to do was to go the apple store with them and all they needed with the student ID card. They just take down your name, so that you cannot use it again for another year as each student is only allowed 15% once a year.

They also give you a discount on applecare. When I was buying my new macbook, apple care would have cost £200, but they charged me only £40-50.

Hope this helps someone. Please don't be harsh, I just started posting deals.

I believe the 15% is only on Higher education students not college student,s which is abit 8% discount.mits also upto as well, since some things are 5% off etc. Still good value. I looked at cost of going to USA and livig up a macbook but it works out cheaper to get the discount and applecare here than in the states!

Nice one.. Thanks

Is this on ipod nano 6th gen too? I'm an nus card holder.

Cheers

I brought a MacBook Pro a few months ago using university ID and got about 15% off. Also Apple Care was discounted to £40 instead of near £200

Yeah! Thats what I did! Saved a lot of money!

My son used his educational discount to get his Macbook discounted, interestingly he was logged on to Quidco and despite educational discounts not being allowed via Quidco somehow it tracked and paid out over £30!

I've used this several times in the past, it's a great saving. The extra for AppleCare is a no brainier IMHO although IIRC you get 3 years guarantee included with the student price and only need to upgrade to the full AppleCare package if you want the extras like 3 year telephone support - although that may have changed since the last time I used it.

As I've said on Apple deals many times before, you can buy online using a Higher Education link and get the discount, without actually being a student.

If you buy it online and not in store I think the 3 year warranty part of AppleCare is included in the price

Nothing new, and title is misleading. It's UPTO 15% depending on which product line, iPads for instance are 4% iirc. Laptops have a higher discount rate than desktops as well. This has been the case with apple for as long as I can remember them having retail stores.

Anyone can order and get the discount, you do not need to be a student. I have ordered multiple things from the education store.

store.apple.com/uk_…mac I saved a lot of money just before Christmas buying a new mac and also got the 3 years cover instead of the normal 1 you get from buying from apple for free.

Purchase Quantity

Faculty, Staff and Students purchasing from the Apple Store for Education will be allowed to purchase the following quantities of product per academic school year. Not all products have special Education Pricing.

Desktop: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
Mac mini: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
Notebook: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
iPad: Two (2) may be purchased per academic year
Display: A maximum of two (2) may be purchased per academic year
Software: A maximum of two (2) per software title may be purchased per academic year
The above purchases can be made either online or in an Apple Retail Store. Total product quantities remain the same regardless of where your purchase is made.

This is what is included. So no iPod or iPhone. iPads are only reduced by around £20. So the only items that really hit the 15% is a few of the Mac products.

When I got mine in June, it included the AppleCare for 3 years and a £50 Apple Store Voucher if I'm correct. That's during their Back to School period.

Heat given

Even with 15% off its overpriced crap

I want to buy as well but it's really over priced, so will wait till next Macbook comes out so price will go down for other one

cant use this link it just says oops

Not to be a dick but hasn't this always been the case? When I was in Uni about 5 - 6 years ago I bought a MacBookPro and an iMac over the 3 years and they were all covered by the student discount. Good I guess for people who didn't know but I feel like if you have an Apple store near you your lecturers should be telling you about the student discounts Apple offer, maybe I was made more aware of it at the time as I did digital art which we only learnt on mac's and needed Apple products for. Marked hot for students who don't know.

Not sure how about now, but when I bought my map retina in December 13 with student discount, I got 3y warranty for free:) no need to buy Apple care (yet the free one is only for repairs not telephone support):)

Yeah, their business model is totally failing. As the first U.S. company to be valued over $700 Billion, they are obviously peddling total rubbish.

Amstrad on the other hand...

How much they are worth has nothing to do with their product value for money factor.

In my opinion they build sleek thoughtfully designed and well put together devices but they charge about double the price someone else would charge and they get away with it, that's why they are appraised at 700 billion.

There is nothing bad in spending your money on good products if you have it.

But I am amazed by how many pro apple Pete visit a site like this, it is sort of ironic...

Can I use this on a refurb iPad?

This has been the case for a long, long time. It's higher education only. Also, if you order it from a Uni or College Campus, you get 3 years free hardware cover (different from AppleCare as you don't get 3 years phone support) - if you buy in store you can still get AppleCare for a fraction of the full price as a student.

You don't know very much about modern tech

The after sales service you get from Apple isnincredible. Plus they hold their value so well
I upgrade each year for free

I thought you needed a NUS card for this though ?

Also does every uni college get the same discount or different ?

I never got asked for anything when I got a Mac instore. I just said I was a student. As long as you have some form of ID I guess. Online you just need to have a Unidays account. Same Discount for all Unis and Same Discount for all Colleges. Lower for colleges though.

You only get about 2% off iPods & iPads

If you need Applecare you can buy it from HongKong and other countries through eBay and it's the same price, if not cheaper, than it is for students.

No you visit Apple store via your campus and it should activate lower prices.

Student discount and education discount are not the same thing. Student discount can only be achieved by using your university's local network or having an .ac.uk email.

Woo hoo time to sell my sperm to cover other half of the money ... :-) ....
