I've still got three Sonos Connects, each of which feeds into a 'proper' hi-fi system. Is there any current replacement for the Connect which would allow me to use the newer Sonos features? Gurrently I'm stuck on the old 'Sonos S1' app.

Never mind, I checked. The replacement for Connect appears to be the Port, at a mere £399. So three of those would cost me £840 even with a 30% discount on each. No thanks. Seems ridiculous that a connection device with no speaker should cost almost as much as their high-end Era 300 speaker.

I think most of the reviews point to the fact that, while the Era 100 and 300 are good speakers, if you're new to Sonos they are very much worth buying but as an upgrade, not so much. Especially in the case of the Era 100 and you already have a pair Sonos One or One SL's, it seems a little pointless.

The other thing worth noting is the "Spacial Audio" the Era 300 offers, is nothing more than a trick of technology, as you can't have true spacial audio without having speakers in different parts of the room. Engadget pointed out that the Era 300 was hit and miss in that department and that you may be better off with 2 Era 100's to form a stereo stage for when most songs aren't in a spacial mix. Which I think is a very valid point.

This is a standard offer - has been there since just after they walked back the upgrade-and-brick debacle. Very old products (Sonos1) get you a 30% voucher while the 'newer' old products get you a 15% voucher. Vouchers can be applied to Sonos 'sets' as well so you could get an upgrade voucher off a Play:1 and apply it to the Cinema set with Arc, Surrounds and Sub if you wanted to go all in.

Obviously you can't upgrade a single device twice, so if you do get the voucher for a given speaker then sell it on that seller can use the speaker in their system but can't use that to get themselves a voucher too. Worth notifying buyers just so you don't get any complaints

    Does the Era100 fit on a stand for a Play 1 ?

Not available for gen2 one's but is available on gen1 and play1.

Wonder if you can stack the discount with other codes....
    majorwedgy666's avatar
    No it doesn't

Are the new features worth the extra wedge?
    Butcher420's avatar
    You get Bluetooth...

Personally I don't think they are but it depends on what you are upgrading from.

Does it brick the old device?

So which give you 30% then? My Play:3 and Play:1's are both 15%

Would like to know this as well!

just not worth it for the 15% off - ebay often (eg today) has 20% off pretty often.
The 30% however is great. Just received new Era 100's and 300's bought at 30% from buying S1 kit on ebay and Facebook for the discounts .. (edited)

Purchased a couple of play 5s last year for £150 both offer 30% off. Very tempted by the era price £174 each

Does this stack with a discount code?

    Sonos never allows stacking

I have upgraded my Sonos Bridge, which I bought with my old Play:3 (back in 2014 when you still needed the Bridge) and when I "upgraded" it, it was only offering me 30% off the replacement product (Sonos Boost), but wasn't applicable to anything else.

The Bridge credit looks like it has been converted to 15% off anything in the Sonos store. Some enterprising types might think it would be worth taking a chance on a second-hand Bridge on eBay, if there is a possibility that the owner hasn't used the upgrade credit, they seem to be selling for about a tenner at the moment. Picked up an Era 100 and I love it. No issues with my wifi (unlike my One SLs), and bluetooth up and running just as quick. Oh, and it sounds great too. Trying to stop myself from getting another one They had the Era 300 out in the shop at the time and i was surprised how smaller it was than all the images on the internet had lead me to believe.

How do you get 30%? I have 6 eligible devices on my upgrade list but each is only 15%
  20. ceririch's avatar
Does it work against refurbs ?
    craig816's avatar
    Yes

anyone tried making a stereo pair with an era:100 and a play:one?
    CatsWithThumbs's avatar
There's a strong chance that isn't possible; you can normally only pair like with like (or SL version of the same, I think). to my knowledge you can't even pair a Play:1 with a One which are essentially the same so I'd be really surprised if you can pair an era100 with anything else, and even if you could I would imagine it would be pretty difficult to get a nice balance from two non-identical units

I have a 30% discount code for my Play 5. It will work off an Arc, but not getting any discount against any Era products. Shows discount until I put it in the basket for the Era. Is this the same for others?
    darknoiz's avatar
My discount worked on the pair of era 300s I bought , I got a couple of really old Sonos zoneplayers from fb marketplace and then used the 30% discount on them (if you are going to do this check with the seller they haven’t already used it or you will left with some obsolete gear)

Spatial audio is a really mixed bag , they are amazing a part of a home cinema setup , mine are paired with an Arc and a sub and the sound in movies is great.

For music it’s very different , the odd song sounds amazing but most just sound a bit weird , like the spatial mix was an afterthought , tbh I am a bit disappointed and they aren’t as amazing as the hype would lead you to believe.

For music I find the audio from vinyl linked up to my two Five’s sounds best , but the fives are good for other music sources.

The era 300s are good but very expensive rear surrounds

I think this could be huge considering the elements in FAQ.
If you have an eligible product, let's say the ones giving you 30%

Can I use a single upgrade credit to purchase a set?
Yes. The discount will apply to the full retail price of all included products in the set.
So an Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc, Era300 and the sub costing £2466 could be discounted to £1726??? (edited)

    Can anyone help me please?

I have an eligible product, to get 30% off. I put an item into my cart and as far as I can see the discount was auto applied. I could see a code of some sort in the code section with a red X to the right of it.

I then deleted all items from my cart. Since then the discount is not auto activating and I cannot see a discount code on the upgrade page. It just says that it is activated. but I have tried with multiple products (not all at the same time) some new releases, some products that have bee around a while. The discount is not auto applying. I have spoken to Sonos chat and they can't help.

Frustrated as the discount seems to have vanished although the update page says it is "activated". It still doesn't auto apply and I cannot see a discount code on the upgrade page. (edited)
