Similar to the nest, and other smart thermostats out there, but in my opinion better for the simple reason it has geolocation - so it turns the heating off when you go out - and turns it back on when it senses you coming home. Also has the usual links to local weather etc. I already have one and think its great.

Usual price is £199 & delivery. 15% off using code BLACK15 at the checkout makes it £178.95 all in. They also have an option to rent for £4.99 per month too.

Hive has geolocation...

Does this control per room/radiator, or just turns on an off the whole house at the same time?

whole house.
Honeywell do a unit that turns the heating on for the whole house but then micromanaged the TRVs on each radiator. It costs a lot more though but you do benefit from multiple zones in the house.

We have Tado and seems ok so far, jury is still out though.

John Lewis have Nest today for £149. I'd love either

Totally depends on your circumstances. If you are a regular 9-5 type person who need the heating on at set times, then this is a little pointless - probably the nest would work better, but probably neither would give much benefit. If, like me, you work from home and come & go randomly then its a major plus. I set the heating to be on all day, then when I leave with at random times for meetings etc it turns off behind me. Also works for the missus as she works shifts....

No way - with the cost of heating a home, the ability to switch it off and on when necessary may mean this could pay for itself - as well as increased comfort and more convienent than playing with stupid timers that don't adjust for daylight savings, let alone seasons

Great product, geo-location beats all the others.

I'm interested in one of these products - but moving home soon.

Is it easy to disconnect and reconnect tado/hive to a new boiler? Also would it be worth installing one of these to a 10 year old boiler?

Any help appreciated

I had a terrible experience with Tado. Just switched to Hive, not as advanced but far far more reliable.

Yes it is ridiculously easy. They don't send you an instruction manual on how to fit. Instead when you order they ask what make model your boiler and room thermostat are and the display totally customised instructions based on your specific model with pictures and wiring diagrams, makes it so easy. If you can wire a plug you can fit it.

My system was literally 3 wires.

Ordered, thanks!

Ordered! Thanks.

After a ton of research on review sites, looks like this is better than Nest and worth the little extra! Plus prefer how it looks, next looks quite chunky and protrudes from the wall... tado is nice and slim.

15% off with the code + 8.4% cashback via TCB. Happy days. Should pay for itself in a year!

Thanks ordered. +£15.92 quidco

Just out of interest you will need the extension box if you want to control hot water, this costs extra.

I switch the heating on when I get in and off when I leave. Jackpot - saved £178.95.

I can see you point, but you will always save money doing things manually. If we all took that view I guess we would be winding our car windows up and tuning in our TVs and Radios with twisty buttons .Personally I like the convenience of automation, and actually they are pretty good... I consider it to be money well spent. Once configured correctly you will never need to touch the thermostat again.

Got the nest from JL, arrived today. Hopefully getting it installed in next day or two. Work from home so the geo-location no real need plus if you are on the way home you could use the app to start it up anyway can't you?
