Just been to Asda and they have 15 smart price eggs for £1.50. I've had these before and they taste fine - they're especially good if you do a lot of baking. Perhaps it's not for anyone with a conscience as it's likely that these were from caged birds, but what can you expect for £1.50!

Aiii:whistling:

Sainsbury's basics are better than Asda btw, you get some huge ******s in them

sainsburys.co.uk/gro…937

They probably look like that egg Gino D'Acampo ate last night... VOTED COLD. I would not want to sacrifice a "Smart Price" for decent quality food...

Actually you're right. Better off single. Why buy the cow.....

I know they are from caged hens but to all of you that **** off smartprice stuff these eggs are actually no different than the expensive ones. they look and taste no different AT ALL!! i watched that program and didn't like it but unfortunately it is hard times and if i can save a penny or two then i will. we ate off caged hens for the whole of our life. its only since jamie flamin oliver started intervening that we started becomg food conscious! eggs are eggs. they have a white and a yolk and are full or protein.

Peoples' morals are only as high (or as deep) as their pockets. If you cannot afford free range eggs or simply just don't care, you'll buy them.

Why do people preach & force their opinions on others..... It's about the deal not if you think it's right or wrong.

Shame on anyone who buys them, I don't care how skint you are.

If you can't afford barn or free range then don't buy eggs at all.

No you're wrong. Proper free range do taste better. Like I already said though, Sainsbury Basics. Asda & Tesco sell MINIMUM weight eggs, SB are MIXED weight so basically with T&A you get the old size 5 and with Sainsbo you get size 3/4's for the most part

Pretty meaningless unless you're old enough to remember when eggs were sold by size.

So well put.
I can't think of anything to add here.

Maybe just some heat.

Hear, hear. This is about the deal not whether we should or should not buy free range, And yes, i used to buy free range until OH got made redundant in January, and then only bought caged hens eggs after OH out of work for 4 months. As you say morals are only as deep as pockets. Voted hot

i aint preaching, i only gave my reason for voting it cold and if i want to spend my money on buying what i think is better for me and my family then i will as at the end of the day i do work for it now go vent your frustration elsewhere

I wear pocketless trackies.... Av' IT!!

i have been buying these for years but the price although good isnt a deal as its the normal price which has recently increased rather than dropped......

so to the person who said if we can't afford decent eggs we shouldn't buy them at all. does that transpire to cheap clothes made in third world countrys too? just thought i'd ask because if so do you excpect us to walk round naked too? hungry and naked ....? mmm perhpas we should become a third world country too ruled by the chickens. forgetting our place in the food chain here!!

Its the first time ive been negative about a deal on here. the deal aint good because the price has been £1.50 for as long as i can remember. Not sure about the free range thing though. Can you tell the difference. Can you tell the difference from the iceland £1 milk and the tesco £1.53 milk. hhmm , same milk me thinks.

But anyway why do people always post a lot of crap that sidesteps the whole issue of the site. Its here to save money , nothing more , nothing less. Can you imagine if i posted marmite on here that i had got 100 jars for 5 pence. it would go to - 10,000 for taste. Be real it would still be a bargain.

Probably would be, if you wanted to tarmac a drive or partake in a bit of biological warfare

Spot on about the deal there.
They were £1.45 untill recently and £1.35 before that.15p price rise in 6 months.
As for free range...i've seen first hand free range farms and they're not exactly humane either.
If you really want something to moan about take a look on the film sites for a doccumentary called "The Cove" :-(

Netto's regular price for 15 is £1.45 from what I remember...

12 for £1 in Iceland.

Where's cheapest for Barn/Perchery/Free range then?

6 x Large Free Range for £1 in Iceland is pretty cheap imo.

Sainsburys basics are barn eggs. Around £1.80 for 18.

Beware, with eggs you generally get what you pay for...try and make a feta omelette with cheap eggs and then good quality ones....

I doubt anybody buying cheap eggs would be buying feta anyway.
