Any idea what does the "MAX.500 GB Formatted Capacity Per Disk" means?

A logical assumption is that you can only have 500GB per logical drive? do you would need to partition this into 3 logical drives maybe?

Great price, getting really tempted to get one

It's in reference to there being a maximum capacity of 500GB for each of the disk platters inside the drive.

Strange, I add two drives to the basket - the 1st is charged at £54.92 ex vat and the 2nd £61.25?

It's a triple-platter drive, each platter (Disk) is 500Gb max. You don't see what goes on in the background, it just works

Nope, you can run this as a single drive if you want, with the whole capacity (1.5TB) available (less the digital-binary conversion loss and filesystem inefficiency)

I have a 5TB RAID5 array (well, 5 x 1TB drives, 3.6TB in Windows formatted etc) and only have 1TB free.
Trust me, there are plenty of us out there that need masses of space.

One word "Hi-Def" Video - well two:thumbsup:

this any good as a main hard drive or only good as a second one for storage etc?

currently have a dell vostro 200 desktop with 250gb hd in. Will these eco-friendly disks run slower
?

aria only in manchester might bob in when i go to watch a film at the IMAX

If you are a music lover you can easily fill up a drive like this. MP3 files are nowhere near as good as WAV, FLAC or APE. a CD can easily use 450 meg at a decent quality.

These are 5400rpm, the new F3 are 7200rpm which are out soon.

These are more use for RAID array, a PVR or a server - where lots of data storage, low noise and lower energy consumption are the main criteria.
Running a big, slow(ish) disk - whilst more energy efficient - may not produce the speed a desktop user would desire,
you would probably be better off with a faster 500/750 GB disk if quick access times and faster program running speeds are desired.

I use one of these as my main bootup drive as one large parition.

Havn't noticed any decrease in speed in anything to be honest, games/photoshop/snappiness of stuff opening

You wait 'til it's full, and you are accessing files at the start, the middle and end of the disk,
or searching for documents, and it's in need of a defrag - i'll just go and put the kettle on :whistling:

hot. although price has gone up by £2 now
