VOTED THE BEST RUM IN THE WORLD

The Caribbean’s Premier Rum – year on year

Long acknowledged as the Caribbean’s premier rum, continuously winning major awards over the past decade, El Dorado 15 Year Old Special Reserve is viewed as a fine, cognac-like rum possessing the most intriguing and complex character in its class. Perfect for long sipping, straight or on the rocks. A Classic!

A combination of specially selected aged rums, some as old as 25 years, from the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still and the Versailles single wooden pot still, it is blended to perfection and aged in old bourbon oak casks.

Tasting Notes:

Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate, pepper and rich vanilla. Beautifully rounded palate with a great spread of flavours: grilled tropical fruit with smooth oaky spice – silky, vibrant and moderately full-bodied.

No not DEER at all

Tempting!

just finished last years bottle of this tonight! not 3 x as good as mount gay rum however, and not as smooth either, but it does grow on you. Mount Gay may have the worst possible name when ordering one in a bar but when its £ 13 ish a bottle on offer sometimes its an absolute bargain and an unbeatable taste to boot!!

The best rum I have had to date is Santiago de Cuba 15 Years Old (Cuba), this was great but only sold in Cuba. It is made at the original Bacardi factory, or should I say it is the original Bacardi factory - They moved to before they moved to Cataño, Puerto Rico to allow export to the USA. My aim now is to find the Santiago de Cuba Extra Añejo Reserve 20 Years Old (Cuba).

If anyone interested there is further information here: en.wikipedia.org/wik…rdi

I reckon my Uncle Cleveland would enjoy this.

Throughout a nice glass of vino, about 5 minutes

Prefer Pusser's but heat added for quality rum.

My gosh doesn't he look young there. My thoughts are with his family at his funeral today.

some of the nicest rums i had were in mauritus. spent a month out there this year. perks of having a mother in law from there! got to be something to make it worth while......

anyway green island is a pretty drinkable rum. we did a tour of the chamerel rhumerie and they do a double distilled rum which is 50% but yoj can dribk it neat with no burn. unreal stuff. picked up a bottle for 15 quid to bring back

I agree this is the best rum around.

And the price at Aldi is amazing, not sure how they manage to source it, as it's not widely available.

There is also a 9 year old for a bit less money.

But i would drink this one above that.

This went on sale weeks ago and has sold out

Not a patch on Admiral Rodney, rum from St Lucia

Another good one is Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva from Venezuela, usually get it from TWE.

I am sure Aldi sold this rum last year in the run up to Xmas but was sold out when I looked. I will look this year as it is on my "to do" list.

Sipping rums are my drink of choice and of those I have tried and that I buy based on taste, I like Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva (Venezuela ), Zaya Gran Reserva (Trinidad), Ron Pampero Anivesario (Venezuela), Flor de Cana 18 and 21 (Nicaragua), etc. but by far my favourite by a street is Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 which being as good as it is, makes it difficult for me to buy any other rums to try. That said, as an Xmas present to myself I bought two bottles of Ron Zacapa XO

I'd recommend keeping an eye on Amazon for spirits. Every now and then they have excellent deals. I got some Angostura 1919 for £22 a bottle delivered. I know that is similar to some supermarkets but I didn't have to stress about no stock, wait in queues or pay for petrol to get there.

I love Mount Gay! I have to admin I only bought it for the comedy name to take to a band recording and ended up drinking the whole bottle and passed out in my chair!

Seriously though, Mount Gay is highly recommended - can't beat the taste for the price.

I'd love to try this El Dorado but unfortunately can't really justify spending that much. But considering it's status and the comparative price of some Whiskeys, seems to be a bargain

Best rum in the world. Voted and agreed. Great price considering you usually pay over £10 for a single shot of this rum in restaurant.
