£150 cashback from Coop Bank (POSSIBLE £50.40 TCB also)

Found 4th May 2016
So.... Seen a lot of posts on Bank cash backs offers on HUKD. This looks like an easy one. Warning this could be a long post.

Spotted £150 cash back offer from Martin Lewis email for Co-operative Bank. If you don't already bank with Co-op Bank - which is more than likely (sorry Co-op!!!) you can get £150 cash back by applying for a Co-op Bank current account. You also have to switch your old bank to the new account and close your old account. Not as bad as it sounds I read on their site that they have a switching service that does this for you. There is one condition, when you switch your direct debits across you need to switch a least 4 direct debits across.

HOWEVER IT DOES NOT END THERE!!!!!!

I am member of TOpCashBack also - they emailed this week with a £50 cash back offer from Co-op Bank. I have read all the small print and there is nowhere that it mentions that you cannot combine the two. This means you can get £50.40 from TopCashBack and the £150 cash back direct from Co-op Bank. TopCashback site says you beed to open and switch you old bank to this new one. Since you are already doing that for the Co-op £150 offer you already covered all their terms and conditions off.

Not sure Co-op Bank meant to this as this seems like a no brainer £200 switching offer.

I switched back in 2015 - back then it was £100 to switch - but it is what it is so can't really complain - don't think I'll be able to do this offer as I got that cash back offer last year.

Here are the details from both sites:

Co-op Bank £150 offer:
The £150 switch offer is subject to status and qualifiying criteria, and is available to UK residents aged 16 plus. £150 offer requires a full switch with 4+ active Direct Debits to a qualifying current account. Excludes existing customers paying in £800+ per month from 3rd Feb 16 to 3rd May 16 and any recipients of previous switching incentives. Offer can be withdrawn at anytime. Terms apply.

TopCashBack £50.40 offer
Cashback will only be paid to customers who take out a Co-operative Bank Current Account and transfer to it as their active current account
To ensure that your transaction tracks and to receive your cashback you must generate a new application
Cashback will only be paid to customers who take out the product and transfer to it as their active current account with active direct debits and transfer at least £800 each month for 3 months
Cashback will only be paid to customers who switch to a Co-operative Bank qualifying current account using the full Co-operative Bank current account switch service, which will include closure of your old account with a different provider on the day that your switch is completed

Don't hold your breath waiting for it to pay out

great find

I saw the £150 yesterday and was very tempted but with the TCB too this is amazing.

Time to switch.

Thanks OP

I switched to Halifax just over a year ago, anyone know how long I have to stay with them?

There is no minimum, you could theoretically switch accounts every couple of months. Your credit rating would suffer though

They actually expect you to close the old account you're switching from? How can they enforce such a condition?

Is there a minimum period before you can rejoin the Co-op to claim the "£150 cashback" though? I left them a couple of months ago. No point in applying if you can't get the incentive again?

For example, Nationwide make you wait 12 months before you can get the intro rate on the Flexdirect again?

Unfortunately that's incorrect. Here's a quote from the T&C on the TCB page:

Having said that the original £150 is still a great offer for swapping bank accounts, and there's no harm in clicking through from TCB, in the past I've had some cashback paid when using offers/codes when it shouldn't have done.

Thanks for posting.

Why the cold votes for at least £150 free money for 10 minutes work?

Lloyds have just stopped paying interest on its vantage current accounts so this is a no brainer to switch out of those.

£300 for me and the missus and hopefully another £100 TCB.

I understand TCBs newsletter promoted BOTH offers are available..

"In addition to the cash-back offer from TopCashBack, The Co-operative Bank are also offering each customer £150 to switch"

Don't waste your time with this. I did this in January, they keep extending the estimated payout time. I doubt I'll ever see the money.

I'm doing it for the £150. The top cashback is just a bonus. I did it with the Coop a few years back when it was £125 and the Halifax when it was £100 if I recall. Those and this one will total £750+ for me and the missus.

It's easy big money.... and some deals on here get red hot for a 10p saving on a tin of beans.

Comply with their conditions according to their T&Cs with active DDs and funding for 3 months. I'd keep the DDs active to be absolutely sure. Once you get the £150 you can do what you like.

I did it back in 2011 and then switched to a halifax to get their incentive.

me too mate , i didnt close old account or switch anything over for that matter and it was paid today , so maybe still some hope yet £151.50 for 5 mins filling it in online and just opening the account i will take that thanks they did change it after i signed up that you had to do 3 direct debits and stuff guess i got lucky

I received my £150 from Co-op today. Just went to check the status of my Co-op claim and it very much looks like they have deactivated my account. I'm therefore out this amount plus another £40 something from a Zen cashback offer.
That's £90 they're trying to dodge paying me...!

Waited for my cashback from TCB which is due around January 12th if the predicted payment date is correct, and its been pending for months but it just got declined for no reason today, noticed that they no longer offer cashback on TCB, submitted a ticket but I don't hold out much hope.
