I think the only issue with Maplin "Deals" atm, is that they are not comparable to anybody because they are going bust. If something breaks within a normal warranty period, you may find yourself left holding the baby.

Heat from me, this is 13 amp, not 10amp as per the one adrian2000 linked to.

These should have a warranty from Luceco who own masterplug.

Thanks, OP. Heat from me, as this is the 13 amp reel.

Note. I can confirm that the Wilco one, linked by adrian2000 above, is only 10amp, and if you are going to be using demand items, such as pressure washers, etc., then it will keep tripping, which is very annoying!

Not really in that case the maker would have to honour it.

Good point, although manufacturer should still honour their warranty.

I'm getting bored of these Maplin deals now. Everyone knows they're going bust and are discounting EVERYTHING. It's getting to the point where a deal is popping up for every single product on their website.

The difference between store's warranty and manufacturer's one is simple: in the former case you usually just go your local shop and sort it out then and there (get a refund or a replacement straight away), when in the latter you will most likely have to post it to the manufacturer at your own expense even if it's faulty and then wait for a repaired item or a replacement (depends on individual T&Cs).

It's all the matter of taste, but I personally prefer the store option

Agree. However, sometimes it's even worse when it's say 10% off any purchase on Ebay and someone decides to post every single deal up there separately stating carefully calculated price. Those people are .. amazing

I ordered an induction hob via the maplin website. Said the delivery estimate was 16th-18th April. Didn't get a dispatch email until after that. The Maplin email said it was being delivered by Royal Mail. Actually got delivered by Hermes to the inside of the recycling wheelie bin. Thanks Hermes.
Just bought this and a few hundred screws nuts and bolts etc. For pennies. Heat.33678736-gNdnq.jpg
Not surprised they have gone bust, even there so called closing down prices are more expensive than anywhere else, awful rip off company

It should be fine, but keep a watch on it

Also it's likely they laid off a lot of staff from mail order so expect delays as probably only 1 or 2 staff handling everything manually
