lol at the muppet cold voter!

be careful not to drop these, they do break if dropped onto a hard surface,ie tiled floor

Yeah, but they will sail thru customs, won't they.

Are we taking a step backwards with this item?

Ceramic knives are supposed to be awesome but I didnt see any when I went to my local one a wile ago. Will go again tomorrow see if they have any...

Apparently not, they embed a strip of metal into the handles to stop that happening. Well thats what I saw on a program about how they make them...

You could say the same about the hot voters.

I haven't got a clue whether this is good or not....yes it's cheap for a ceramic knife, but as I have never tried one, for all I know they could be better quality than the brands, or they could be utter crap. Not seen these in Aldi before, and I go weekly or more often, so where are the user reviews on them?. The only specialist knives I have seen in Aldi in the past are Japanese layered steel (like Damascus steel type) knives which turned out to be NOT very good

Prove he saw a TV program? I believe that he did. Of course, you see a lot of stuff on the telly that isn't actually so.

not too difficult to take this bit and put in in a wooden handle tho.

Unless you mean that the metal is inside the blade bit?

Yep I'll stand up for jarlayari and they do put a metal strip in the knifes. The program is a 'How Do They Do It' on Channel 5, with Robert whatisname. Check earlier threads on ceramic knife deals.

Yep, Robert Llewelyn wasn't it?!

They do have metal inside to prevent them cracking like a plate.

I bought some ceramic knives deal extreme , very sharp but broke the tips off them

I bought one from them, it did not have a tip on the end, so was it broke and in the packaging......
But they are nice and sharp and it did not matter not having a tip on the end, I thought perhaps they were supposed to be like that ;-)

Bought the small knife and the peeler today. Ran the knife down my thumb thinking, mmm, not impressed. Whoops! I can confirm both knife and peeler are pretty sharp. I use Sabatier, but the rivets are falling out of my peeling knife. Reasonable substitute. Good post.

thanks for publicizing this to these cold blooded killers who stab people for a mobile phone, like one life is worth 100 quid. bloody tossers! (not you the killers)

Doh! Reminder to self do not run sharp knife down thumb as may cut skin..:p

These sort of knives work well, will be having a look at this to see how it compares to my others, don't have a 15cm one

very odd comments

Bought the 15cm earlier this week. I have a great collection of knives already but thought I would try this as I don't have a ceramic one and at that price why not try? I can confirm they are damn sharp. Sliced into my little finger and didn't even know it until the blood started flowing! Time will tell how long they stay sharp. Only complaint is that they are very lightweight so the balance isn't great.

en.wikipedia.org/wik…ife

" To hinder misuse of concealed knives many manufacturers include some metal to ensure that they are seen by standard equipment. Ceramic knives can be detected by extremely high frequency scanners (e.g. millimeter wave scanners) and X-ray backscatter scanners"

I bought some of these knives last week, they are incredibly sharp & a fantastic bargain

I bought one to try, seems fine, as someone said, depends on how long it will keep sharp.

What I was impressed with though was the peeler - 2 quid and it's the sharpest peeler I have used. Again not much use if it's blunt in a few months, but it is starting off in a good position! :-)
