If you don't already have a Google Account, sign up and create a Google Drive account.

Once you have an account link your phone / pc 'whatever' and sync your photos.

You can cancel the sync on first image and still get 15GB of cloud storage.

Info - Auto-backup automatically saves your mobile photos and videos to Google+. Backups are for your eyes only – you choose if you want to share them.

With the latest Google+ Android app, all new photos and videos are now backed up at full size.

Full-size Auto-backup uses your Google Drive storage (up to 15 GB free). You can always switch back to storing your photos at a standard size (unlimited and free at 2048 px) or purchase additional storage.

Voted hot, but it has changed permanently to 15GB of storage, it is not a limited time offer. The storage combines gmail, g+ photos and drive.

Doh! I honestly thought it was a new thing for Google as just got email, did it and got 15gb. Any whooo, those that did know will now be able to know.

Cheers,
Joe

Thanks OP. I knew about this but never took much notice until now.

Just a warning to people who want to use google drive to sinc files between apps, eg. pc to tablet. It's very difficult to transfer and save files from google drive to your device. You can only really access the files on google drive 1 at a time if you are connected to the internet. This makes transfering a playlist pointless since you can only download and play 1 song at a time. If you want to transfer files between devices i would recommend a service like dropbox.

Why are you saving your music on Google Drive? If you use Google Music (which allows you to upload 20,000 songs for free) then you can do all the usual things like making playlists, and sync a playlist to your device with one click.

.

Thanks for the tip, I wanted to save/backup over 1000 photos and it would have been a nightmare trying to recover them one at the time. Realy appreciated!

Never knew it changed to 15gb until I just checked my account. Thanks op. Heat added as I take a ton of pics of the kids.

Google+

Yuck!

no need to do any of what is mentioned in the OP. its always 15GB across all of your google services (gmail, drive etc)

Complete tosh. Using the google drive app is a bit clunky I'll admit. But there are plenty of excellent file managers (such as ES File Explorer) which will allow you to access local files on the phone/tablet, files in multiple cloud accounts and even files on your own LAN at home. Using google drive for music is ridiculous as you can just upload to Google Play and use it as a proper media player with playlists and the lot.

i love google drive. weve just started using it at work too. allows you to 'share' docs with everyone allowing them to comment on the doc directly instead of sending tons of unrelated emails

Google+Yuck!

I always uninstall Google+ from my Android phones, as soon as I root.

everybody should keep family photos documents in the cloud and use google drive as your working folder. madness not to. we have Google drive 100gb and drop box, which is far more reliable.

Dropbox is my fav to be honest got 15GB on that from sharing with friends and business contacts. But only noticed GD was up to 15GB yesterday so was going to give it a go. But sounds best to stick with Dropbox.
