15KG Dumbell Set (Lonsdale) SportsDirect [InStore] £14.99 + Quidco

Found 15th Apr 2010
OK the story is: I was looking for an additional set of Dumbell bars, and the cheapest I found were for £14.99 at Tesco (http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-5748.aspx). Then I came across this set at SportsDirect for the weights and bars at the same price! Bargain.

These are the same as the Pro-Power sets Argos sell for £19.99.

Deal is available Online but you would then have to pay postage, making it not such a good deal, hence why I've put [InStore]

[EDIT] oh yeah nearly forgot: If you have a card registered with Quidco you can get 2.5% cash back by using the card instore! (I assume its the same cashback online)

Yeah, but the deal is mainly "why pay £14.99 for just the bars when you can get weights included for the same price"

How do you register a card with quidco?

ah

Pretty rubbish weights. Vinyl weights with plastic collars!!. The tesco ones are worth their weight in metal. Go for them

Thinking about getting these but i'd have to walk home from town with them, anyone know how heavy they are?

15kg is good enough to get a good decent bicep workout! if anyone here can curl up to 20 kg or more on one arm then u have my respect:thumbsup:

When you say 15kg do you mean 15kg each or 15kg both together?

If 15kg each than thats good

its total weight ofc as vinyls would be massive at that size.
they will be heavier than 15 tho as bar weight isn't mentioned so depends on their quality.
try clicking the link.

As for how heavy... if you are carrying them a mile like i did my first set of weights then they will feel alot heavier than 15kg after a bit.

tbh id rather get empty bars if thats what i was after as would never really use the vinyls and could get better bars probably.
(bar weight not mentioned)

yeah but then all you 'fail' type posters have already failed as they dont weigh 15kg as thats the mass of the vinyl without the bars.

images with (img) (/img) not smart either

these will do for most people. pretty hot deal I reckon.

i would recommend pyramid type exercises with these type of light-ish dumbbells

if you buy some try this with hammer curls (look up hammer curls on youtube if you dont know what they are)

note you can vary the rest period, and increase or decrease the reps, but the concept is the same. you could also apply this concept to other exercises.

e.g. do 15 reps. rest 10 second
10 reps rest 10 seconds
5 reps rest 10 seconds

then 10 reps, rest 10 seconds
15 reps, rest 10 seconds
5 reps rest 10 seconds

then 5 reps, rest 10 seconds
10 reps, rest 10 seconds
15 reps, STOP and have a break! or repeat, if you are still feeling strong!

you should find, even with these light dumbbells that your arms are pumped right up!

Limited use really. Not heavy enough for anything but bicep boys.

Hmm, i WAS kidding, u know

haha 20kg is not really heavy for anyone into training.

Agree would do someone into tonning or basic training but for me you can never beat a proper gym* for realy weight training, just so much more equipment. I use dumbells from 11kg through to 50kg on a weekly basis, probably about 10 different weights at least.

Anyway hot enough deal. Remember folks form is very important with training, especially small muscles like arms. (relatively small I mean, compared to legs/chest/back).

Anyone can bench 15kg on their chest:roll: i myself could bench press around 100kg on my chest at one time! im talking about curling 20 kg or heavier on a single arm! quick question how much can u curl, bench, and shoulder press if u dont mind me asking??

So how many injections are you taking up your ass a day? As I train like f***, and everyone thinks i'm a meat head, but im not. Mad enough as it is, with out taking that ****. Anyone who does that, is cheating them selves. I can curl 35 at a push. Then, I only weight a 11st 2lb.

As someone said in previous post, it's all about form. I agree with you. It isnt a bad price for set for 15quid. Thou, if you are wanting to get heavier weights, you migh consider buying the barbells individually, for about 6quid or so.

Lots of e-strong people in this thread.
15kg is fine especially as people have mentioned hammer curls, slow and fast reps etc.
Preacher curls and training one arm at a time i.e adding the weights on one bar would be sufficient with good form.

who's the question directed at mate:?

I'm starting p90x or a similar style training program soon, here's how to make some dumbells lol

They (in the youtube video) seem to me to be more like Kettlebells which I've heard great things about.

shabbauk. As thats some weight to curl. I'm gym loads, and I can just manage to do 35, with bad form I think. So how he does that weight on a preacher curl, I never know. Unless he meant two armed curl on a bar, or cheating and on gear. Which he defewating the object. lol!

I dont think u understood what i wrote!. What i said was anyone can bench press 15kg on their chest. I can curl just about 15 kg on bicep curl on one arm and bench press 100kg on my chest

He could mean Dumbell Row. Or DB pullover. Lat raise partials. Or he could just be strong, imagine that

I never directed at you. Unless you said you can curl 50kg? Thou a 100 is good incomparisson, to only curling 15. I would think you be able to curl allot more than that. As I can curl 35 at a push, but only get about 2 clean reps out of 100kf bench press.

No he did say curlHe should say what he mean's. Pull down's, that weight are pretty easy.to do. As for lat raise, I cant comment on. Yes he could be strong, but I dont no, what ever.
Lets just say, ive just come in again, Ive had comments on my triceps. So I think I know a little of what gets results, and I'm all natural. Only way to lift that weight, would be a huge bloke, or someone doing gear.

35 in one hand? Thats b******s. And swinging it up doesnt count! Im the same weight as you can manage about 15 proper form.

Nice deal thanks

lol? i had a post deleted here clearing up some peoples inability to read/think and it got deleted whilst...well the crud above remains.

Dantooine, i think 35kg was for 1 rep bad form which would probably suggest 20-25 for 5-8 or so.
15 for 1 rep is probably below average unless you meant reps .. at which its about average and will be low end for people actively training in weights.
