Nice HOT for price, but Im waiting on the new F4 coming out.

Obscenely cheap!

Nice find, have some heat

Great price, but I will have to say 'No thanks!'. Scan CS were a complete shower when I had to deal with them.

has anyone seen a really good price for a 2TB drive currently? i need one to replace a 1.5tb that's not got enough space for any more mucky videos

Cheapest i've seen is around £85

Can't believe how cheap these are getting, picked one up the other week for £55.99 thinking it was bargain of the century and now available for even less!

Will this be compatible if I put it in my Humax Foxsat HDR?

I got this from ebuyer for £85 about 4-5 months ago. Good hd.

Not sure whether to go for this or the new 2tb f4.

Great price.

Are Scan still using City Link for deliveries? I remember they were horrible to deal with.

3.4ppg!!!!!!!!! that's unpossible

Shame their postage cost is around 32459043598532485035 million pounds to northern ireland when they could send via royal mail for a fiver.

They have missed out on alot of money from my family.

Still hot if your able to get it delivered cheaply.

i've done some research into it, and there is a section on the foxsat forum that suggests it might be possible, but that its not garrenteed:

looks like it may (in theory) work, but that nobody is giving any garrentees.

5400RPM LOL. Even with the high platter density, this HDD will be slow as a ****. Cold.

tbh, i have a couple of 5400 rpm drives for storage/backup, and yes it is a little slow to put stuff on them, but im only doing it once, as im using them for storage and backup. its no real problem and why pay a premium for a higher speed that frankly, im only going to use once?

my (external) drive transfers at about 35mb a sec and my 7200rpm (internal) transfers at about 50-55.

It all depends what you want to do with it...

your voting the product cold, rather than the deal because it doesnt suit your needs.

this site is intended to find "hot deals", and this is a scorcher.

Well didn't I take the plunge at a bad time, it was £80 for these a few months ago.

Free Delivery only valid on orders over £75 so this is actually not such a good deal.

Does this drive come with a warranty with Scan or can any RMAs be done direct to Samsung?

If the warranty is with Samsung (who were very efficient during my last RMA with them), then I would happily buy a hard disk from a company with poor customer service, as once I have the item, all my RMAs will be to Samsung and not Scan.

The one I got from Novatech (exactly the same model for a very similar price) has warranty with Samsung so I presume if both from the same batch the Scan lot would be the same.

I've been very happy with my 1TB F1 and F3 drives, but if I was going to replace them I wouldn't go slower than 7200rpm.

But these drives are aimed for storage and not transfer speeds.

This is perfect for streaming media etc

The Foxsat HDR will only automatically format drives up to 1TB. It is possible to get it to work with greater but the partitions will need to be created manually, ideally using linux. It is recommmend to use drives that do not have in-built error checking, designed specifically for PVRs.

see: foxsatdisk.wikispaces.com/Sim…wap for instructions on how to do it.

I have several of these drives and I can honestly say that the difference between these 5400rpm drives and, say, the 1tb 7200rpm Samsung Spinpoint drive is so negligable it's hardly worth mentioning. Fact is these drives are excellently priced and a speedy enough storage solution. Who cares if it takes 3 minutes or 4 minutes to transfer so many gig of data - people buy these because they are cheap, reliable and HUGE!

Thanks to JW13 and Achronite about the Humax HDD upgrade info, appreciated.

That is interesting as i got one from novatech last week and it was a grey import with only 12 month warranty. Novatrech have given me in writing they will honour the 3 years however so long as they do not go bust. They must get from multiple sources so i guess it depends how lucky you are

Added to basket. Checked out. £60.13 including postage!

Am I missing something?

The one that I bought from SCAN in July was 'Out of Region' according to Samsung so returns to scan only.

That said, the one that I bought developed some bad sectors after a couple of weeks and (so far) scan have been great.

Called them, they arranged next day courier pick up (their cost)
Arrived at Scan next day and tested same day (and found to be faulty)
Just waiting for a replacement. Unfortunately it is out of stock at the moment - prob because of all you lot buying them ;-)

This is the problem right there. We have no idea when they will get stock.

When I last did an RMA to Samsung, they replaced the drive within 72 hours. Out of all the RMAs I have done, Samsung's is the best/fastest.

There is absolutely no way that I would want to deal direct with the retailer, after I have seen how Samsung deal with their customers, directly.

I've seen that Novatech are selling the same hard disk for £5 extra. For the (direct to Samsung) warranty, the extra £5 is worth it.
