FYI - you can get a 16-25 railcard "free" by using £14 worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers.
Used to get one free with a Natwest student account for every year of your course, I've been getting one every year for the past 5 years! Not sure if they still offer that incentive though.

Definitely worth it if you travel by train a lot, and you can couple it with an Oyster card to get 1/3 off tube travel.

Heat!
If I have an over 18 student oyster card do I still get 1/3 off pay as you go off peak tube travel?? Just wanted some clarification before I get one, thanks.

That offer was actually for a rail card for 5 years and they only ran it over that summer 5 years ago. Therefore meaning we won't be getting a new one this year

Yes, you just need to go to the tube station and ask them to link up your rail card with your oyster

Yes you're right, 5 years, I remember now. It wasn't just one summer it ran though, my brother got the same offer 2 years before. Shame it's not running any more, was a much better incentive than other banks were offering (except maybe the Halifax £3000 interest-free overdraft!).
I was going to post.
Btw, thanks for posting such a great deal...

according to NatWest they still offer the free 4 year rail card for students

natwest.com/per…shx
'If you are an existing customer who has upgraded their account to a student account you can apply for the railcard.'
Mine is just about to run out. Thanks for this.
This is going to sound like a stupid question but once you apply for a railcard does it become active I ask because I have a natwest railcard which runs out on july of next year could I buy this card and use it next year?
Can you use this along with the NUS Extra railcard offer?
The Natwest offer has changed this year. It is now a free railcard for 4 years not 5 and you have to have had a current account prior to April 15th (not sure of exact date).

Personally I joined the bank two days before that date so was very lucky.

I just received my latest student nat west rail-card 5th year

also daughter went into nat west and opened a student account and got a rail-card this summer

great thanks, i need to renew soon.
Damn, I just renewed mine this week too! For people wondering, if you already have this railcard you can renew it up until right before your 26th birthday (meaning that you could be well into being 26 and still use it!) Heat added!
As in the true style of HUKD - Cold - I'm over 25 Only joking good find
it's rubbish that you can't use this offer if you are a mature student, I just renewed mine but I saved most of it on a long journey anyway so can't complain.
Does this work for the 3 year offer?
I just try, but seems like this offer is not available for renew one.

Can anyone confirm this? I thought it was only up until your 25th birthday that you could get one of these railcards (thus it running out before you hit the age of 26)...
It'd be amazing if you're right!

If it helps, according to the FAQ part of their site you can renew your current card (even if its not expired) upto a week before your 26th Birthday...
Amazing! Thanks

Apparently you can only get this deal if the person whose name is on the Tesco vouchers is between 16-25. so you can't buy them for your children or anyone other than yourself

I'm not 100% sure what you've tried to say here but just to be clear, the discount does work when renewing an existing one-year railcard (I just did it). Thanks OP.
Has this expired?
bump, any other offers around for a YP railcard?
