I'm a noob. I have Internet/WiFi already. Can anybody explain to me how a device such as this is necessary and/or can help me with my existing WiFi? Thanks.

If your existing wifi signal is weak in other parts of your house then plug this in the area of the weak signal and when paired with the router it will give a strong signal. My upstairs has a weak signal and this works great.

The above comments are misleading you don't plug these in where there is weak signal as you will be re broadcasting a poor connection the ideal place to plug these in are where you have medium reception
