There will be 3 screen sizes. 40 inches, 46 inches or 55 inches. I expect this to be the 40 inch.

Bit pathetic really when the Comet email today said "We're really excited that our first 3D TV is now in stock" and then provided a link to this particular set which as you report they say ISN'T in stock - so maybe they were just being Conservative politician (ie economical with the truth) and it is ANOTHER that is in stock!

Other sites are pre-release listing at hundreds less! (None of them come WITH any 3D specs at c£99 each, ie the set is 3D Capable rather than 3D Ready.)

Even though the Panasonic 3D TVs are simply superb, I am not going to be a first adopter. I'll wait until the reliability has been proven and the costs have come down to a reasonable level. I do not want to pay a premium.

You are also right about the glasses, but sadly the glassless 3D is something that is years away, if at all. The quality without glasses so far is truly abysmal.

Having said all that £1600 for a 50" Plasma 3D isn't bad at all. However, going by the mess Samsung made with their LCD/LED (sidelit) offerings, I wouldn't be rushing out to get one of these. Panasonic is still the king in terms of 3D, but time will tell.

good deal.

You been living in a cave?

Not too long ago not even a top end 42" Plasma cost £1500 - I'm talking not even two or three years ago, and before that they were £5000 for a 40" NON FULL HD PLASMA.

im waiting for 3D 'lentographic' (something like that) screens. Theyll produce the 3D image for you without wearing specs
