I think the Argos deal is better @ 269 for 80gb + a game.

Either way you need to get one as it is the mutts.

Yeah buy a 40Gb or 80Gb and fit a 320gb hdd if you want the extra disk space. Works out cheaper that way.

im sure you get a couple of games with the 160gig ps3 that you have to download of psn network as you do with the 360 arcade

agreed, just get a 80gb PS3 for £249 (Zavvi deal) and a 320gb drive for £55 - worth the extra £5

Plus you can keep the 80gb drive for backup by buying a USB caddy (£10 or £15 I think).
By the way I think 80gb is probably ok for most PS3 users although I must admit I have a 320gb in mine, upgraded from 40gb but I do have movies on mine.

Both the Zavvi or Argos deals work out to be roughly the same, after you discount the game.

Which 320gb drive did you go for Andy?

I played it safe and just went for a drive which many hotukdeal users had recommended...
Here is the thread, I think the drive is about 50 notes...

PS. There maybe better drives so doing your own research is always a good idea.

Cheers. I was going to do it last year but got distracted and now I cant remember which drive I was going to get. Never heard of a USB caddy, maybe worth a look, I assume you can get these for desktop HDD's as I've a 320gb one in my old computer I could use as back-up.

If you do upgrade make sure you have a couple of pozi drive screwdrivers handy, you'll need a #1 for the blue screw and a #0 for the others - and remember to apply plenty of force when removing so as not to strip the screw.

Or just leave the PS3 as is and stream the media from your PC

I didn't do this and to be honest I didn't want my PC on all the time, still it is a sweet solution.
One thing that does make me think that an external drive would be better is the way the PS3 treats folders, my music is held in folders many deep and the PS3 can't handle that except in an external drive. Hopefully Sony will patch it as I know it peeves a number of users.

Six of one, half a dozen of another I suspose.

I do this at the moment and works well but don't always want the computer on at the same time.
