The write speeds seem low in comparison to the more expensive Sandisk SD cards. I'm no expert but wouldn’t this effect the ability for continuous shooting with a DSLR?

Yes you are true, this would effect the ability for continuous shooting with a DSLR but however the average data rate is of 4-6MB/sec so this would be fine for an amateur photographer and especially for the price.

Nope- use these for shooting videos in HD on a Canon 700D and never had any issues.

My understanding is that shooting stills in RAW format results in larger files than shooting video so this may be a problem.

Bought a 64GB card from Amazon which ended up being DOA. Other people seem to be having issues as well so might be a bad batch.
