Pay more money for a slower card all because it has a brand name yet the play.com one is probably manufactured by toshiba and will say so under the sticker?

You are a moron.

If you say so, you will find play cards are cheap crap, just read the reviews online.
Sandisk class 2 cards consistantly read and write at class 6 speeds.

Plus both have 5 year warrenties, play are shockingly bad at sorting out order problems, try to get a card replaced under warrenty, sandisk will send you one as soon as they recieve the broken one.

You sir are the moron, you clearly have no idea what your talking about.

Good spot - While it is unbranded the 5yr warranty is promising, as does the fact it's made in Japan (can't verify this - But one of the site reviews mentions it)

Just received mine, a class 2 inctead of 4!

Mine arrived this morning and it says Class 4 on the packaging and on the card itself. I have not tried to run any kind of speed test on it. It works in my San Francisco after formatting it in the phone. I've downloaded a few Picasa albums and played back a slideshow. I'll need to hunt down some phone software to give it a proper test as I don't have an adapter to use the card in my laptop.

They sent me a class 2 as well. Sending it back

same here class 2 the snidey B*****s, sending me replacemnt then sending this back

class 2 for me as well - play.com rubbish as usual.

Ordered on the 10th, received today 21st. Stated in stock, but dispatched on the 12th. Also received Class 2 instead of Class 4. Looks like a picker has done the same for 100's, or play.com has just decided to fill orders with Class 2 and deal with the flak. I'll stick with Amazon next time. Annoying because the Class 2 was cheaper at the time, so paid the premium for the class 4.
Checking the invoice, which would be seen by the picker - the space isn't big enough to show the full description, and the Class 4 bit is cut off.
Anyone tested the write speed of the class 2 received?

Edited by: "tightar5e" 21st Dec 2010

Just tested by transferring 850MB Single File in 6 Minutes 10 sec, (370 sec) : 2.30MB/s to write - so clearly not Class 4.

These are the read/write speeds for my Class 4 card when transferring files between my laptop and San Francisco over USB. The top row of figures is for a 100MB file. All figures are the best results from five iterations of read/write and for varying file sizes from 100MB down to 4kB.

I called Play and complained about the Class 2 rather than Class 4 piece. They agreed to send me Class 4s in the post and that I can return my Class 2s (at their expense) once the new ones arrive.

Just had the RMA email, (Pain in the Lovely Ar5e - Yes), might just pay the extra and get the Kingston one from Amazon @ 17.99. At least with Amazon you generally receive what you order. Just have to give the present (phone) with a supplied 2GB one.

Mine did that too. I formatted it in the phone and all was good.
