Worst company on earth. I am stuck with them for another year.
Been with them for 15 years, they gradually went down from hero to zero in last 5 years, sometime I had less than 1mb speed, shocking, when move to virgin mobile I got like 40mb in the same areas, they cannot scam people into 5g which is virtually non existing and 90% of time it will fellover to 4g service

Fake news.

Been with them for 8 years. Bill for 6 years has been about £15 for unlimited everything.

Good customer service (not UK based though), perfect reception, free roaming before EU regs, and Wi-Fi calling/texting available.

I'm sorry. I don't defend companies much on here, but my experience seems to be wildly different to yours. I'd been with O2 previously, but I can't recommend Three highly enough.

EDIT: I should add that their speeds on both 3G and 4G are excellent for me wherever I've been.

I was with them several years and didn't see any real problem (guess I was just lucky).

The only reason I moved to EE was a deal too good to be missed and yes they have faster top speeds on 4G but driving around a lot I can see the signal on my cars screen and in more rural areas it drops to Edge a lot when Three would at least have 3G.

Didn't have any problems when I called their customer services (even being in India).

I'm glad I moved to EE but Three were OK with the locations I visited.

I found their customer service wasn’t great and their signal / speeds in London terrible. However, if you’re outside London and don’t need to speak to their customer support then you’re quids in!
The deal itself is very good but I have to agree the network has gone downhill, my data speeds can be disgusting slow and it's usually when you really need to use it that it frustrates me. You get what you pay for I suppose. As more and more people take up the deal it will get worse.
I also agree that its a con telling people they are 5G ready as this suggests its available.... But it's generally not.

5g years away after Huawei ban.
Great deal. I've got Three for mobile and home broadband, always had good speeds, get between 20 - 40 mbits. Customer service always been good for me, they have refunded every time there's been an issue
I drive all over and because of not having a 2g network the drop outs and no signal areas are a nightmare.
My parents do not have broadband could they use their iphone i gave them as the personal hot spot and get unlimited data? Or do 3 mobile not really mean "unlimited"?

Yes, I think their "unlimited" is capped at 3Tb.

It would work in a phone using mobile hotspot, but stick the sim in something like this and you'll get better speeds, better wifi coverage and can keep it on all the time. - amazon.co.uk/Unl…8-3

I use Smarty who are owned by Three - £18/month unlimited with a rolling one month contract. Works well, 1Tb/month - though I have gone over this and nothing happens.

Obviously speed will depend on signal. Rural locations with low population density work best. I am in the middle of nowhere and get around 100Mbps down 25 Mbps up. Never less than 70 Mbps down.

Disagree. Just moved into a new flat and took out a broadband package with the router you mentioned. Despite them telling me it is an area with superb signal - I am getting dial up speeds and the router is shocking for signal. Called up technicians who do not have a clue, shocking service and will cancel as soon as I can!
A year, possibly, 2 ago I was Three's biggest champion.

I am a heavy HEAVY user of data with like 250 - 500GB of data used in any one month.

But i have to agree with all the comments above.

Their speed was amazing. Now it's virtually non existent. More often than not I have to join onto wifi to do anything. Which really isn't the point of a mobile phone.

According to three's fair usage policy there is no data cap. There used to be. In fact I just switched from Smarty to Three for that very reason as they have a 1Tb guidance.

As I say, depends on where you live. Strong signal does not equal high speed. I only get 3 bars (out of 5) on the router, but not many people sharing the data. Busier places may have strong signal, but the bandwidth is shared between many more people.

Best thing is definitely to check using PAYG sim or one month sim from Smarty to check speed before signing up to a longer term contract.

Same here! I used to promote 3 to my friends, but now I am only able to use about 1gb of data per month, despite having an unlimited package, because the signal has degraded so much. Anytime my home wifi goes down, I can't even switch to my phone data instead, because it just doesn't work!

Service and coverage has been spot on for me.

Think we should create a new thread... 'MeThree'
Only joking and not intended to take anything away from 'metoo'
Good deal, but very bad network where I work in East London, full signal with 0.5 meg internet, pretty much all E14 areas. Vodafone and EE are fine

Same here happy with 4G not even hyped about 5G atm 4G does me perfectly only listen to music on the way to work my mobile data usage went from 200gb a month to less than 2gb now trying to cut down my smartphone addiction. Lol
Unlimited my ass been dropping speeds down to 5Mb or even not working at times. General experience been horrible this lockdown.

Im with three for years without major problems on around 8GB to 12GB monthly, so decided to take unlimited broadband it whole different story. They limit it very often when my phone sims remain the same.

Here is me using 50g and I feel like I have done well
If you ever have a billing issue with Three or they mess something up (which they tend to do) get confirmation in writing.

They tried to bill me for an early termination fee when I cancelled outside of the minimum contract period earlier this year..

They fixed the error and I got it in writing which came in handy when I had to make a case with the ombudsman when they later chased me for this fee again and "had no record of it being waived" despite me showing them proof/confirmation; they passed it on to two-bit collection agency who decided to harass me for £25.

I left three as the service degraded each and every year and after this episode, I wouldn't touch them ever again even if they were the cheapest, after using them for roughly 7 years, absolute sh**e company.

Better offer from Fonehouse
41463869-ryFu7.jpgAs I understood it will make total of 14£ a month after cashback
With all the Three hate in here, just have to say my piece. I have been with Three for years and decided to move to O2. Within two days realised that I had made a mistake. The speeds in my area were terrible and their website said my area was heavily congested. I've moved back to Three today with the unlimited everything for £18 with £60 Quidco cashback. Speeds are 20x better on Three in my area. Granger signal in my house is worse than O2 but VoWifi has me covered. I'm flat to be back TBH.
Another vote here for three being great. I only recently left because I wanted to reduce my outgoings so switched to Smarty for their 30gb for £10 a month deal. Also if you use someone's referral link ( wink wink ) you both effectively get two months free ;-)
Three are great in rural locations with an isolated mast and a low population density, as I am home 90% of the time this offer would be great. 1 year contract is better than the 2 years commitment they where previously offering. I use a tplink dongle 40 quid only cat 4 so cant take advantage of 2ca but hey ho. I am using my mums across the road with a huawei repeater or I'd be all over this heat. Currently on 12 gig 12 month preloaded at 28 a year

Yes I think I have used 30gb max a couple of times so one reason I went for the 100gb EE deal (it worked out at less than. £17/month with cashback with 6 months Apple music when k was paying £18 to Three and they could not even match the £17/month so I left). 😁
Does anyone know if there is a cap on the personal hotspot? I recall their being a 1gb cap per month previously.
MissPig22/07/2020 11:52

Imagin about hundreds of people doing the same thing on that mast, network becomes pants, and then people saying it’s a bad network with 1mbps.
Looking at my options.
I've found 3 to be really poor in congested areas - ie music festivals, central London etc. However, that's quite likely not an issue for a while.
Anyone got any suggestions for as good deals elsewhere that might be better in those situations?

I've just got a 5g phone and was rather surprised the bandwidth I'm getting - guessing not many others are using 5g around in me Kent.
