If you pop in on Thursday you should get one. Aldi do a nice Cajun seasoning for about 50p that is nice rubbed on one of these and seared in a skillet and finished in the oven.

went to all of our locals and it was no where to be seen, and staff didn't know anything about it or if they did it was out the back for them.

Totally agree. Although I had a devil of a job carrying home several kilos of herbs and spices and what I did make up was hot as hell.

its only 50p. I have loads of bulk spices and 15 varieties of dried chillies but the Cajun seasoning is convenient, it's even nice on French fries to make homemade zinger fries
Luckily always find them , people moan about rump but a nicely seasoned and well cooked rump imo is miles better than most sirloins you will get in chain restaurants. Obviously depends on quality of the rump ( Costco being the one I prefer , but the last 2 times the big daddy steaks where great)

Agree. Give me rump any day, so much more flavoursome than most of the trendy steaks.
What a waste of a good steak finishing it in the oven.medium to rear is the only way to appreciate a good steak.not to cook the life out of it

These are the best. I've done them on my charcoal BBQ last time and they were superb. They are so big I can only prepare 2 at a time.
Is it grass fed beef?
Much better 21 day scotch rump £10 kg in my local asda atm.
Managed to pick a few up last time, surprising good when slow smoked on the bbq.
It was actually very nice when bought last time

If your lucky enough to live in Northern Ireland then Kanes butchers of Bushmills do a 32oz rump steak for £6.50 all year round and they deliver for free also with a £30 spend and the quality is fantastic (p.s i have no affiliation with Kanes i just appreciate great quality )

Any info on how to cook these would be helpful. They always end up tough as old boots for me.

How do you cook your Steak? If you have it well done then that could explain it.

Or you just don’t like Rump, and you should try some Fillet
Extra tough more like

Buy good stuff. Marinade for a an hour or more. Sear outside ijn very hot pan. Quick fry in hot pan - leaving pink in centre. Let rest for a few mins. Overcooking will pretty much guarantee it's tough!

go to the shop early you will find plenty of big daddy
Sous vide at 135 degrees, then sear. Perfect.
Those Picanha bugers in your photo look like they're worth a try.
Does Aldi ever sell Picanha the real mccoy. ?

Tough as old boots. Get some proper steak instead.
rump has to be either eaten medium rare from the grill or quick fried on heavy duty metal pan that is pipping hot and only seasoned with salt before and black pepper after cooking.
Anyone saying these are tough have never had one or cocked up cooking.. My experience far surpassed expectations of an aldi steak - very tender and juicy.. Can't wait to get my hands on a few...

Yeah your right I much prefer Fillet. But anyway I have these now so I now need a decent way to cook them. Not Well Done, Medium.
Please no suggestions to take them outside.
