And you know this how? Why so judgemental? They are made to conform with British standards and legal so what exactly gives you the right with no knowledge to make comments like this?

Fantastic! Unlike some cheap tyres, "ditch finders" which perform badly in the wet these wont.

They will however wear out quite quickly b/c they are soft compound. Its for you to weight up if they are cheap enough to get you through 6-8K on your motor.

Common sense? Unknown name, dirt cheap, chinese tyres are universally terrible.

Conforming to basic standards is no guarantee of performance. Even retreads are ok under British standards.

It even says on the website. Wet performance C, rolling resistance E, and very loud. Cheap for a reason. Asda's photo shows winter nankang tyre when Mazzini is a summer tyre.

Rubbish.

Excellent, well reasoned argument there. Any evidence? Ever looked at tyre reviews in your life? I have and I'm yet to see a single budget chinese tyre that performs well.

Rubbish.
Melted down welly
I have been fitting cheap budget tyres on my 3 cars for years and have done hundreds of thousands of trouble fee miles. I wouldn't have a problem fitting these tyres. Stop being a tyre snob.
Minstadave04/09/2019 19:03

Slow clap.

Not sure what this means but I'm sure it's derogatory. Never mind.

I don't care about the brand name, I just haven't ever seen a Chinese tyre that is even half decent.

Surviving 3 years on cheap tyres is no hallmark of safety. Look at braking distances, aquaplaning resistance, wet handling and all these tyres are miles behind even average tyres.

There are plenty of places to save money, but fitting these most godawful tyres you can find, to me, seems absolutely stupid.

guy these are decent tyres for the PRICE.....
Dont ever buy budget tyres
How bad these can be? I do about 7,000 miles a year, Bridgestone lasted me about 5 year, Michelin lasted me well below my expectations, only 2 years and Khumo only 1 year (!!!). All these were over £75 each.

I am sure these will last at least as long (short) as the Khumo I had before. Voted hot for the price, but I think I will stick with Bridgestone now.

In heavy rain on my first car when I was poor I had a set of budgets on. The lights were turning red, I braked, then skidded so far through the lights I had to continue though. Just dont do it, buy the best you can afford
It's only that tiny bit of rubber compound between you and what could be a fatal accident go for the very best you can afford. And yes I do know what I'm talking about
OK so I bought a second hand low milage car and the garage had put these on the front. I'm very mixed about this deal to be honest because whilst the tyres have felt absolutely fine over 3000 miles on the Lake District roads I drive on (and the legendary rain) , I did decide to swap them when I spotted the recent Goodyear Eagle deal. So maybe the Mazzinis are actually a real bargain?

When your car needs new tyres you should pay for some decent ones. Why take the risk? British Standards mean nothing. I've just got 4 Bridgestone Turanza T005 225/45 R17 W (91) fitted for £294. I like to give myself a fighting chance on stopping safely, cornering safely and driving in the wet safely. Also these tyres are designed to minimise road noise (unlike those plastic ones you for some reason rate), designed to reduce the risk of aquaplaning (yes I know if you go under 50mph in a straight line the physics are that you DO NOT aquaplane) and are designed to last 10% longer than their other current tyres. Yes I know a thing about tyres and driving. Thanks for your assumptions about my knowledge.

Very simple tip when buying tyres... If it says made in China on them, don't buy them.

Its nothing to do with being a snob. It's about being sensible. Also your issues with tyres may be because your wheel alignment was out which you had no doubt fixed when you had your new tyres fitted. But that's OK, I don't expect you to admit it.

Given their rating, presumably the ECO stands for East China Origin?
I bought some budget tyres from ebay for a civic I had, handled superb in the dry, but in the wet it was like bambi on ice even at low speed...
If you drive like an idiot then these tyres are not for you. If you worry about rare occurrences where tyre differences could make a difference then these tyres are not for you.
If you drive normally and carefully these tyres will be fine except in rare circumstances and other factors will be the cause of any accident.
I have driven on remoulds, 2nd hand tyres and cheaper tyres like this for 35 years and never had an accident. Just keep your distances, be aware of traffic and pedestrians around you, drive to conditions and you turn an accident into a near miss. Always remember the car in front may be able to stop in half the distance you can!
In fact even when I was younger and drove like an idiot my tyres never let me down. Screeching round corners in various poor handling cars. Driving for fun in proper snow. Tyres like this were fine.

I am driving on cheap, VERY cheap tyres for 15 years. I drive 10k miles / year. I drive a heavy 1.5 tonne car, often also loaded up.
Had ONE slow puncture in 15 years. Had NO major punctures nor any sort of failures in 15 years.
I test my breaking distance on dry and wet road regularly - no issues.
Emergency stop - no problems. 70mph to stop - no problems.
Traction on wet and on snow! - no problems.
Every MOT, breaks test - grip and force exceeding requirements by a large margin.
Set of these lasts me 20k miles average.
Once, I got offered Pirelli Performance set at greatly discounted price. Lasted me 5k miles.
Soft with better grip on a dry road, about the same grip on a wet road.
What a waste of money it was!
