OK, so you've probably seen or got a halogen oven. I have one and use it all the time - great! This one from Robert Dyas is on offer (£50 at Amazon). It comes with extender ring and various cooking trays. It is so cheap to run compared to a conventional oven - and a lot quicker.
Whilst it's £29.99 instore, online incurs a £4.99 delivery charge. To get around this charge, you need to spend at least one pence more! I did it by ordering the cheapest item (a small candle holder - product code 150492) for 50p. That makes the oven and candle holder £30.49. Apply code SUMMERW1 and its £25.49. After 8% Quidco (£2.04) it's £23.45 - Bargain!

Topcashback have today upped Robert Dyas from 8 to 10.1%

#####since writing this, the peeler and candle holder have gone out of stock. There are loads of items for £1 Greaseproof paper, dusters etc.. that will qualify for the free delivery.
Impossible to keep editing header price, so its going to be £23.95 instead. Sorry - still very cheap for an excellent product that will more than pay for itself. #####

never used this before but reviews look good! Tempted

I've used one of them when we re-done our kitchen. Very practical for weekend/holiday home.

I bought this from RD recently. Not used our main oven since. This one has decent extras with it. Only minor criticism is the handle feels the least well made part. Although still recommended.

i have seen the teleshoping ads on tv but are these as good as the ads make them out to be?,allways wanted to buy one and at this price it would be rude not to

superb deal and thanks for the quidco/tcb & peeler info as i was looking at these around xmas for £60 ish and now its cost me £23

thanks

these are great, best thing is that you can actually see your food cooking, so there's no excuse for burning,

Thanks for this op, been thinking about getting one of these! Got the potato peeler too

Missed all the great deals for halogen ovens last christmas, and this one seems too good to be true!! 23 pounds for a 17ltr Halogen oven? That's incredibly HOT and worth the punt!!!! Thanks OP!!

Edit - Quidco tracked very quickly at 2.05!

Glad this is hotting up. Has anyone found anything cheaper than the peeler?

How is this in comparison to the JML Halogen Oven?

Baked Potatoes, nice and crispy. As the heat is distributed in a vortex and the base is circular, everything cooks at same speed. Excellent at pasta bakes too. Little tip for you - chicken thighs & drumsticks. Bit of water in bottom to catch fat drips (it swirls around) coat chicken in soy sauce. 200 degrees fifteen mins, turn over, ten mins more. Chicken has a KFC moisture to it, whereas conventional ovens dry chicken out. Didn't mention that there is a self clean function for the bowl too. Empty machine, Inch of water, few drops of washing up liquid on a low heat for ten mins!

Got to stop spending !

You can, but they are not ideally suited for cakes. Try dropping the baking temperature a little and baking for a little longer than you would in a normal oven, otherwise you might find the centre of the cake underbaked.

Only 2 used ones for sale on ebay - they must be good! Ordered, thanks

just ordered one thanks.cheapest candle holder out of stock so order the pound one

If it's anything like my Dad's JML version. It should be totally awsome. I always use it to do some amazing things. Good for serious oven stuff, or quickie cheese toasties

Dammn, what could you get to push you over the £30 mark?

I love mine too but can 17L be right?? Mine is the biggest I could get and it's 14L. I paid extra for all the accesories too

Thanks. Ordered. Seems to have my 2 favourite features. A lift off lid as a hinged one would not fit under my kitchen unit and a mechanical timer as on my current one the power goes off when you lift the lid losing the current settings if just doing a visual check. Wish I could afford another as a spare (especially considering all the included tools).

Damn it! I just talked myself into getting that spare. Me and my big mouth :-) I could have saved myself the cost of 2 slotted turners, 166p, if I had ordered them together.

Thank you, been after one of these for ages.......Oh and you get 10.1% TopCashBack with Robert Dyas X)

Rach

ive had one for a couple of months.

so far ive tried (and outcome):

chips/wedges etc - very impressive, best wedges!
chicken thighs and drunsticks - as good as if not better than oven
pies - amazing
pasta bake - used mainly to grill the top which worked fine
cheese toast - good but got a "slightly" soft base but not a problem

the only thing ive done in it that doesnt work is pizza!!!!
which is a massive shame as its like one of my main oven food!

the top is perfect but no matter which racks i use and how high etc, the base is always soft and slightly soggy. ive heard that pizza causes a lot of condensation which may create the soggy base
so have been suggested to take the lid off a couple of times during cooking. however, i have not tried that as i didnt want to waste another pizza

anyone got any tips on pizza?

There's a Kindle edition cookbook for £2.99.
Do I HAVE to have a Kindle to read it or can I read it from my laptop/PC?
Thank you. X)

Have you left enough space for the air to circulate below the pizza or just plonked a whole one in?
Pizza turns out ok for me but I never cook a whole one.
Good luck. :-)
Also, re pies, I turn them upside down for the last 6 mins or so to cook the base.
