I have one of these that I use with a laptop and it works very well with it. Cable itself is pretty thick, and seems to be good quality. I paid £2.99 for mine about 3 months ago so this is a very good price if you are looking for one of these cables for 99p delivered.

I use mine with a HP 8440P Elitebook and it works fine. Although it specifically mentions Apple products in the description, the packaging stated that it was simply a "Display Port to HDMI" cable, so am assuming it should work with any device with a Display port.

I hope that helps.

Apple MacBooks typically use a mini-DP connector so I don't think this cable is suitable?

My HP ProBook has a full sized DisplayPort so this cable should be suitable unless it is actually a miniDP/HDMI cable.

I can confirm that the fittinng on this cable is a FULL sized display port connector.

Nicely spotted. Ideal to free up the HDMI on my monitor for the PlayStation.

Many thanks OP. Have been looking for a cheap one of those for a while;)

It wont, the macbook uses a mini display port as a pose to the above standard display port connector.

You can tie a pretty bow around the iPad with it. Not much other use for it, though.

iPads have expensive 30pin/lightning port to hdmi adapters. The lightning port variant for the newer devices is said to be laggy. Read the reviews as some streaming services will not work.

Thanks for the heads up:

I have a Dell U2311hb IPS monitor with VGA Display Port and DVI

So far I've only tried the VGA and DVI but haven't found any cable that will link my HDMI laptops to the DVI on the monitors. VGA is fine. I tried connecting a blu ray drive and the blu ray appeared but then the machine started to simultaneously power on and then off so no joy there.

I was under the impression that display port on monitors was an output source only so never thought to try that

But for a quid anything is worth a punt

Cheers Op

Won't work. It's Displayport output to HDMI input. It's not just a cable, there's convertion circuitry in the DisplayPort end.

You could use a mini dp to standard dp adaptor like this one here though dp adaptor but that's another £1.55 and a long wait for delivery.
